Headgoonie Back to the Future 40th Anniversary Denim Jacket

Let's keep this civil people. We don't want the thread to be deleted by mods. I agree with both sides of this argument. I myself have put a lot of time and effort with communicating with Headgoonie and do feel that the end product has a few things to be desired. But I also acknowledge they have a company to run and some things just aren't possible. Personally, I have chosen to not buy the 2025 jacket. But as to not damage our professional relationship, I have kept my personal thoughts on that matter to myself when talking to them. I do feel its better than 2021, but there are a few things that influenced my decision. It's not the end of the world. They make these jackets every few years. And they always learn from past iterations.

Thanks Einstein. Keep up the search for your jacket. Have a feeling you’ll never be satisfi

It’s a bit faded, the grey parts aren’t close to the guess jacket of Marty.
Nice!

That might be one of the cleanest one yet from what I’ve seen including mine lol
Yeah, Mitas's jackets have all been very clean. His Mexican that he sold was probably the best example.

Edit: Gee, whiz, what happened while I was gone...? I know the jacket isn't perfect, but it's nothing to argue about. I am personally not gonna buy it either, but I am still curious as to how it will turn out.

Is yours' denim really that dark or is ir just the lighting?
It's really that dark. It is in extremely good condition. That's why the movie jacket looks darker than what we see today, even in pictures without the color filter they used to film. It was brand new back then and hadn't been washed a whole bunch over the course of 40 years.

Now that you say that, it is 100% newer than any I've ever seen. The buttons are bright brass and the right pocket tag isn't shredded.

They somehow lost the ability to fade the jackets the way they did in 2018. That was the jacket where they showed them applying the chemicals by hand.

I went through most of the purchasing process on their website just to see how much it would cost to import to the US. $734.
I feel like they didn’t get the color right, that BTS shot you provided at universal with MJF’s hands on his sides next to the crew is closer in color. It’s like a grey slight blue, now it’s this ocean blue somehow versus the 2018 jacket.

I think from what I've read On here at least, Magnoli will do a superior job on the details, however, from what I also understand, they don't have the same access to the correct materials. I very much look forward to seeing their finished article though. I can gladly concede on certain details, but for me, getting the correct colour is a fundamental.

Indy Magnoli you know where to find me if you want any references I have. I also have a color card I can take pictures with so you can properly calibrate the image and get true to life colors.

…and I currently have a BUNCH of vintage guess fabric across all the slightly different washes and dyes that MIGHT have made up Marty’s jacket. There was a wide variety.

For everyone else here, bull denim that primarily fades along the warp and not the weft is just a weird thing to find. Trust me, I’ve looked. Haha

Could we see a few pictures of said denim?

Is there anyone here who is actually going to purchase the Headgoonie jacket? Still thinking about it, but price is rough. I am trying to rationalise my decision through the fact that at the end of the day it's still a high quality piece of clothing that will be worn and used for years to come, despite it's inaccuracies on a replica point of view, it's still a sick jacket. Marty's jacket being cool is the only reason I'm here anyway. I don't cosplay, I just love 80s clothing.

I completely agree! It's not that I'm not happy with the 83 jacket that I have, it's just... not what I'd prefer. Mostly, the double-sleeves get caught on things all the time.
