hasegawa - anzio annie vs. leopold

came back from a long trip on the road (work) and stopped by a well stocked (of vintage kits) hobby shop. they had the hasegawa 1/72 anzio annie kit. but to my knowledge, i'm looking for the leopold. i find very little reference of hasegawa making this anzio annie (was printed on the box art), but plenty of the leopold. (from studioscale, scans) the leopold was molded in white...however this was in dark green (or something similar).

my point?
is there any difference
from what i read, anzio was the allied name for leopold and robert.
can i make do (if building, the shuttle, atst-esb, and tie bomber) with THIS anzio?

i'm guessing i goofed and should have gotten it?
correct?

much thanks,

Anzio Annie = Leopold

Same kit. Same (basic) box art. Simply renamed on later issues. Color of the plastic doesn't matter (though I've never heard of it being issued in white).

the newest re-release is in white why I don't know but its nice the kit has stuck around so long right this and the Thor [ morser karl] are the back bone of studio scale building

It may be us studio scale modelers that are providing the incentive for Hasegawa to keep producing these kits :lol
I find that the original issued kits parts, molded in the very dark grey, to be quite brittle.
I havent run across a kit molded in white yet. After all these years, I wonder if the detail is getting soft?

In that case Airfix is gonna be amazed at the sales of their 1/144 Saturn V kit if they do indeed re-release it!

so just to get this super clear into my thick skull (of the original question). the anzio annie is the same kit (just an earlier version) of the leopold, AND the same respective invo of thor and morser karl?

much thanks

Exact same kits - only change is the name on the box. Beware, there is another Morser/Thor kit, which is the Munitionspanzer version. Parts in this kit differ from parts in the regular Morser/Thor. Later versions of the Munitionspanzer also differ from earlier versions. The box will clearly state if it is a Munitionspanzer kit on the box.

interesting.
i figured the munitionspanzer was just an added vehicle.
are you saying the actual morser karl is different in that package?
like different tooling/pieces/kit karl?
seems like a lot of work on their behalf

No, just a few different sprues between the "rail" morser and the tracked "ammopanzer" "morser".

Typically, you will need some bit from both for most SS projects.

You can NEVER have enough Leopold/Anzio annies and Morser Karls . . . especially if you can get them for ~$30.

The "Old" are the dark gray plastic, and the "new" are a light gray. I've too found the old dark gray ones to be more brittle.
