Hasbro X wing model

Has anyone taken a Hasbro X wing or similar ship and repainted it? They look good to me but I know nothing about the accuracy of a X wing.

There are some that have tried it. I can recall at least two recent efforts that were documented here (one in the studio model section since the Hasbro toy is about studio model sized). Try a keyword search and it should be possible to find the threads.

When you say poor fit, can you be more specific? There were a couple deficiencies I had to compensate for...

PHArchivist,
How did you fix the problem with the poor fit of the wings?

I'm sorry. I meant the sag of the wings. The soft type of plastic (pvc?) that hasbro uses doesn't support the cannons well. It would have to be a solid fix, if one was to put in putty or aves in order to fill the gaps.

Perfect -that's exactly what I needed to answer...

I used telescoping squared brass "tubing", telescoping so it got smaller/thinner towards the outer edge.

Aha! This...

Thanks! This is exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks for posting the pics. Very informative.

My pleasure... The wings were then closed up in styrene. I used a single piece with drawn on panel lines. Wish I'd done individual panels.
