Harry Potter Props and costumes

^True. Maybe if we carried wands, then people may recognize us a Death Eaters.

EDIT: Fixed spelling

i think the wands will go far to differentiate between the two...as well as the skull masks...the color of the robe and the material of the hat...the costumes cast a very similar sillouette but the actual costume is quite different (about as different as the imperial officer uniforms and the nazi uniforms that inspired them)...and if you're really concerned...make sure someone with you is dressed as harry...skott

I'm just worried that older people who don't care for Harry Potter may take us as the KKK. The wands will do good though.

Here is a pic of my full size firebolt broom I just got in the mail. I just finished the stands for it.

Here is my second Skull Deatheater wand. It is much better than my older one. I'll post pics of the older later one so you can compare. Here's the pictures of the new one:

How much would any of you pay for this wand if I sold it on eBay? Just wondering.
Tell me what ya think.

I like the newer version of the wand, I'd weather it pretty heavily though. Make it look like it's seen years of dirt and grime building up on it.. maybe even a little blood.

What's an easy way I can do that? I used Ben Nye Plains Filler dust for the Voldemort wand an was pleased with the results. I'll give that a try but i'll take any opinions from you guys.

I like to use alcohol soluable Tamiya acrylic paints, some black and some dirt colors maybe. You just paint it on and wipe as much or as little off as you want with alcohol damp paper towels. Just be sure whatever you've got the wand made of doesn't react badly to the alcohol. Then you may want to juse use some dirt and grime, Fuller's Earth I think it's called is a tried and true way of adding dirt.

Okay, I used the Ben Nye dust and here's how it ended up:

I think it turned out good. What do you think?

"I think it turned out good. What do you think?"

that is a really nice replica...it's just a shame how much i just hate that wand...i don't know...the design bothers me...it looks like they made the handle out of fimo...and the idea of a "death eater wand" just seems off to me...if "the wand chooses the wizard" why would they have the same wand?...but maybe it's just me...skott (note that my complaints are not a knock on your work...but that of the prop designers for the movie)

A good realization of that prop.

Something about Bad Guy wands cracks me up: These are obviously designed to look cool in the hands of evil adult wizards and witches. But, unless a wizard loses or breaks his wand at some point, he was running around with his Bad Ass wand at age 11. Now, a kid with a skull wand is either going to be envied above all his peers, or get his little butt hazed. Imagine 11-year-old Lucius trotting to class with his serpent-headed wand... with older Slytherins teasing him the whole way (you know the Slytherins are really into hazing).

I kinda hoped there'd be vanity upgrades in the wizard world. I only use the wands that come in the little blue box. :p

"Imagine 11-year-old Lucius trotting to class with his serpent-headed wand"

i'm sure there are...i always had the theory that lucius had his wand mounted into an heirloom walking stick handle (and that it would eventually go to draco...eventually...maybe)...but the deatheater wands just don't sit right with me...i don't know...maybe it really is just me...skott

Nah -- I'm one of the few(?) that miss the old wand designs.

I liked the old designs better as well (they felt more like finely-crafted tools than Harry's current carved twig), but there's no question that moving to resin allows more variety. I think the Malfoys are the only characters to retain their original wand designs.

yea...i just liked the older wand style better (i prefer the newer uniforms though...especially the quidditch robes...she talks about names and numbers on them in the first book)...the newer wands that i do like keep the older less organic aesthetic (snape and sirius come to mind first...also cedric and fleur)...and as cool looking as the voldemort wand is...it seems weird that no one questioned the 11 year old with the wand that looked like a femur...skott

Eh, been working on this for about two days, its a present for a relative.

As far as accuracy, I think its fairly close, casting it in resin tommorrow morning, today I touched it up with some acrilic.

Believe it or not I actually carved the majority of the wand from wood. :p Hence why the need to cast this thing so it doesnt break. Handle part I sculpted from clay, its hard to see but I did carve those dents into it and everything, Im quite happy with it. :)
