Harry Potter free paper props - all movies and more!

Started working on this ticket to Durmstrand Institute quite awhile ago and wanted to post a WIP for comments. The border trim is supposed to be copper but it looks gold in the picture.

Comments...worth finishing up?

I think it looks very unique bfd; The graphics are really suitable for the subject. Are you thinking of trying the heat transfer foil method for the copper parts? That would look really nice. The speckles in the paper is a nice touch too.

Very unique indeed! I agree with Ecl about the foil, that would look good. Definitely finish it up!
Jhadha, do you know any free fonts that are similar to Gomorrah?

Thanks!

Alexander:lol

THANK YOU JHADHA!!!!!(y)thumbsup This will help so much! You rock!

Barneyrfd, are you done with the Weasley's Manager Special poster? I want to see how it turned out.

Thanks ec. It came out looking a little bit too much like the Hogwarts Ticket but different enough I guess. I really wanted to do a sort of oval shape but I found it too difficult to get a border to wrap nicely. I think I may change up the font to look a little more "crude" looking. it is after all, an all boys school in the far north of Scandinavia...:lol

I think the copper parts would look great in foil but I have never done the process but I might give it a try, thanks for the suggestion. Glad ya noticed the little speckles, it just looked too plain without some kind of background.

Thanks HL1 and jhadha for your comments as well.

Pretty much. I think they came out "brilliant!" to use a term from my British friends.

Nice! Love the color in those Weasley posters!

Regarding the heat transfer foil; It's pretty simple to iron that stuff on but takes a few tries to get the process down. The hardest part for me was to make sure everything lines up when you print the rest of the image (The non foil parts are printed on later over the finished foil parts, as the foil parts need to be printed with b/w toner-copy machine or b/w laser printer)

Also Happy Birthday HarryLuna! Nice set of gifts you got :D

Wow! Those are brilliant! They turned out really well! Thanks, Ecl. I was wondering if anyone could give me some good reference shots for Harry's Expulsion Letter Envelope. That would be great. Thanks!

Back to the drawing on the Durmstrang Institute Ticket, here's version 2.

Reworked the corners, the font and background and I'm pretty happy with it, it better resembles what I had in mind to start with. My goofy idea of course is that the trip to Durmstrang involves a ship ride to a port at the end of a fjord and then a trip in an airship above the frozen wastes to the Institute itself...hooboy:facepalm

HINKY! We haven't seen you in a while and I was getting worried... Of course we're still here! Why not, is what I say. Will you be on more often now? I really want you to stay and keep designing props! Good to see you back.

Just been hiding! I moved, had to get a new computer because of a big flood (lost about $2000 worth of my Harry Poter collectibles in said flood), moving again now because of landlord issues and I don't have photoshop so even if I'm back which I'd like to be, I can't design anything :(

Would love to get back to designing now that everything is starting to calm down though.. Just need Photoshop to not be so dern expensive.

I've missed you guys lots :( Every time I see a prop I think of you guys.

Hows the thread going? Is it still crazy active like before?

bfd, love the cut corners on the ticket! I think it looks fantastic.

Hinkypunk nice to see you again!! Terrible thing to hear about the flooding. I've only experienced a flood once in my life and it was horrible. Amazing the type of damage that can be done. Take care!

As per a PM, I'm editing this to instead say "Holy crap, you guys are still here?!?!"

Hey there Hinky. I've only been around for a short time, but I check this thread almost every day. I've read every single post in it at least one time and I'm constantly amazed by all the great work here but you and others.

I just thought I'd say thanks for the work that you did for this thread.

Thanks
Kim

Hello Hinky, great to hear from you! Sorry to hear about your misfortunes and glad that things are calming down for you.

The thread is still going strong, though kind of slow lately. Some of the "original" members have dropped off a bit but we have some new, enthusiastic members to fill the spots. And we have had our share of drama, but it's been fairly smooth sailing for awhile.

bfd, love the cut corners on the ticket! I think it looks fantastic.

Glad ya like the changes ec. I think it helps make this ticket look a little different than the Hogwarts ticket and I really like the copper color. I've got to try foiling the thing.

Sorry to hear about the flood, been through similar myself, very distressing.

Would love to get back to designing now that everything is starting to calm down though.. Just need Photoshop to not be so dern expensive.

It may not be the version you are used to, but you can download Photoshop CS2 from Adobe for free, at least it can get you up and running again until you can upgrade.
