Unlimited Run Han Solo in Carbonite greeblies & volvo panels!

Re: Han Solo in Carbonite greeblies and panels

So are you planning on painting directly the printed parts? You said you didn't want to mess with casting, but have you actually tried priming and painting these? I'd love to see a pic on how that goes? What material is that .. looks shapeway's white strong and flexible to me?

Re: Han Solo in Carbonite greeblies and panels

Just use acrylic paint and you'll be good to go. I'm offering them in the pWSF material... polished white strong and flexible. It's a nylon powder melted together by a CO2 laser, then polished by a tumbled with ceramic media. This makes the parts come out nice and smooth.

I forgot to print the spring and box side greeblie in the set I ordered, so I don't have photos of those, though they are now included. I changed one of the rings to be the capped ring, which is the one that's in the medium sized square in panel #3, next to the two grey dot decals.

The clips have three different types of screws. If you noticed, I've spun each screw to be the correct angle, for those of you who want to be super picky and get that detail right. The only problem I had was that two of the three styles of screw did not print out properly. It is because I made them too thin for the printer. I've modified the file to include the thickened screw on those 11 clips. As is, these failed clips are still okay because they don't look that bad, and I can just drill them out and add real metal screws. You can see the failed slightly oval shaped parts in the photo set. I have high confidence that the repair shown below will fix that issue.

There was also discussion of the third T piece, which I still don't see in the reference photos but I will be including all 3.

So up for sale is the 115 piece greeblie set, with sight unseen on the spring/box piece, updated 11 screw clips, and the 1 updated capped ring. I won't be ordering these updated pieces for myself just yet, but go ahead and post pics if you do. With the added cap on the ring, added screw/box piece which I didn't calculate cost for in my previous quote, and the third T piece, I'm able to offer these for $168.50 plus $6.50 shipping in the US, and a little bit more elsewhere.

You can order them here: zenix hic greeblies full set by baltimore on Shapeways
I'm changing this to a for sale thread, though the panels are not yet available. Only the greeblies so far.

Re: Han Solo in Carbonite greeblies and panels

Thanks guys! Here's a few test paints I did... brushed acrylic grey one, mixed the black and white I had on hand. The black one is spray painted and so is the shiny one.

Looking good - how did you attach the u clips? Just curious - the other pieces look fairly easier to attach because of greater surface area to make contact with the panel.

I'll update y'all on the panels soon. For now, greeblies for everyone!

I just put them there for the photo. I'm sure a dot of superglue will work. you can stretch them out a bit so it gets some grip on the walls there too.

For the first three orders that came through, AnakinSkywalker, MartinSivertsen, and one other person? not sure who you are but you ordered earlier today... if you could go ahead and cancel the order on shapeways and then reorder it, it'll be good. I made a tweak after you ordered that's not a big deal but if you cancel and reorder tonight or tomorrow it'll give you the new piece. for everyone else it's already fixed so you're good to go from here on out. no big deal either way.

Re: Han Solo in Carbonite greeblies and panels

Something has come up at home, so i will have to put off getting the panels for a few weeks. i still want them.

Re: Han Solo in Carbonite greeblies and panels

for those of you who already have a metal mesh grill and metal u-clips, you might be interested in this option: zenix greeblies, no clips and no mesh grill by baltimore on Shapeways This doesn't come with the nipples, so you'll have to order those separately, for $13

It's the full set except it doesn't include that mesh grill, nipples, small cylinder nor the u-clips. It's $117. and then $13 for the nipple pack

The file for this was just updated, so if you've ordered this and got cancelled, reorder and it'll work.

Ordered! Thanks!

What are the color/paint recommendations for each piece?

Are there reference pictures posted?

Re: Han Solo in Carbonite greeblies and panels

I haven't assembled a layout/diagram or anything like that. there's lots of reference pictures on the web, yahoo hic builders group, etc. When I put mine together I'll be able to do this, but I'm just not only offering the parts. I'm sure various people have and will post build threads that you can use for reference as well.
