The correct type and it looks like it is in good condition too. :eek

So... Who will be doing a run of these?

I would be happy to get a run going using my 3D model, however now that the suppressor has been finally identified (great work, Darth Lars, Amish, Drew, Macklin, Chris, and all those who contributed, even if they wer slow to be deprogrammed from their belief in the fire extinguisher theory - the debate this generated fueled the fires that were lit under our collective asses to finally nail this - you're all my newest heroes. :D ), it behooves us to get our hands on one in good condition so that the geometry and dimensions can be accurately reproduced. If the owner of the one below or Darth Lars' new source can be persuaded to sell or loan his out to me so I can reverse-engineer it using my mechanical measuring instruments, I'd make it my mission in life to get it right down to 0.001".

Better yet, let's try and track down the company that manufactured the suppressor, if it still exists, and see if any blueprints survived. :)

Now lets not blow this for everyone by stating it was a part used in Star Wars OK.

YES, we are all history/living history buffs...and we want to add this piece to our collection. To avoid the point of sale screw up---Repeat this slowly with conviction: Star Wars does not exist. Star Wars is for geeks. I do not like Star Wars. I love WWII memoribilia.

:D

Great find guys. It'll be interesting ,when someone scores one of these, to see just how close all the various replica versions were to the real thing. I know I spent weeks looking at reference pictures when I made mine, as did Dave and others. Yet, we all ended up enterpreting at least a few things differently.

The manufacturer would have been Mauser...

its times like this that you realize for the first time ever, only a HANDFUL of people are privy to this knowledge. Please everyone, keep it this way and don't EVER use the words STAR WARS while searching for this .

oh what a day .

That is the guy I have been in contact with who had the slightly inaccurate ones I posted pics of.
Another member who is known to be very reliable will make a run of accurate flash hiders and that member is already in contact with this collector.

I hope this guy does not get flooded with emails from RPF:ers now. :lol

Truly great news.

Good detective work.

It'd be wild to find a mint one at a gun show, wouldn't it?

SERIOUSLY. I hope everyone has GOOD SENSE NOT to email this person. Also, everyone keep in mind that the guy paid 19,000 DOLLARS for this piece-this is not a gimme or sell this piece seperately type of good.

I'd suggest editing out the link to the original post and subsequent quoted replies.
That would at least cut down the possibility of too many people contacting the guy.
Enough qualified RPFers are already on it and have established communication with him.

Good idea Chris.

Since Mauser is a german company, I´ll try to get ahold of the old blueprints -in case they still exist- later this week :)

Stay tuned, Markus
