Halo 4 Master Chief WIP

That 'laser-leveling' is brilliant! I never would've come up with such a clever solution, haha. Will have to try that when I start on my Iron Man armor :p

I wish i would have thought of it sooner. It worked great and I half assed the whole thing ( duct tape and towel mannequin with wood skewers and hot glue to hold it in place ) so with a little more time and effort you can save yourself a lot of trouble. I have a love HATE relationship with pep because its hard to keep everything symmetrical the laser lever definitely makes it easier

did some late night beautification. I have the front of the helmet and visor pretty much locked down... The light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter :D

I cant figure this out, is this cast out of resin or clay?
Can you post a few more details on what you did step by step to get it from Pepakura to This look?

from pep to this. I used bondo, spot putty, and a high build primer. Most of the details I made out of random **** I found walking up and down the aisles of Lowes and home depot or sculpted it out of lock tight all purpose putty. I used pop-sickle sticks, aluminum rod, tile wedges, a variety of wooden whatevers pretty much anything i could find that might work until i made something I liked. glued it on and then more spot putty and primer. That's not a cast that's the master I haven't molded it yet because Its not clean enough for my liking. I've been using 400 grit sand paper and ill probably finish up with a 600 grit ( 600 might be overkill but im gonna do it anyways.)

I'm not 100% I'm gonna try a few different things. First i was gonna try a one piece vac form and cut the honeycomb out of the reflective gold tint then double up with a whole sheet of tint behind it. I'm thinking that the honeycomb will be visible at certain angles and in direct light but still be see through for the wearer but i don't have any experience with tint so....??? If i run into issues with the tint not laying right because the inside of the visor wont be nice and flat then I'm gonna make silicone mold the visor will be a little thicker then and weigh more but I feel like the tint will lay down a lot easier. I haven't even start on it yet so I might end up doing something completely different but those are just a few of the ideas i have brewing in my head

There is a guy on facebook that charges $40 for a very thin piece of plastic that he heats to make the honeycomb. He uses a dye to color it....It looks very cheaply made and awful in the helmet. But he is selling a bunch of them...I'm not buying.

I just bought a template that has 4-5mm cells that I hope will help with the effect. There is an amazon cheap gold see through visor that I was thinking about spraying the design on the inside. Outside if it doesn't stand out enough.... I would rather it be reversed, but I am hoping if it's sprayed light enough, I can still see through the paint.

The gold visor I threw in to make the mold was like $20 off Amazon i think... so its probably the same one your ( Durkness) talking about. it looks pretty good if i wasn't making a visor myself if would have just stuck with that. That stencil looks pretty legit I might have to pick one up. When ever you get around to making your visor let me know how it works out and if you can send me link to that guys facebook page I'd love to check that out too.

also I finished and started the mold I'm actually in the process right now here some final pics I still added and did a little more work after these but they're the latest photos I have

here is the mold so far Still need to add the Mohawk, add some smaller keys and a final thin coat to even it out.

I'm moving pretty much all day tomorrow :thumbsdown but I really want to at least start the outer shell :D I did i test run with the silicone and no curing issues so it should come out looking sexy

Very exciting dude. Can't wait to see the first cast of this.

Are you planning on doing any of the armour pieces in future?

I have pretty much all the armor peped and glassed so I would eventually like to finish all of it the rest of the armors detail is pretty mild so it shouldn't take me nearly as long to pump those out. I also just moved and have a garage all to myself so i'm goons build my dream shop. I've built my own 4 axis cnc and am saving money for resin 3d printer. So you can expect a lot more coming from me

pulled my first cast yesterday and it came out perfect...:D I wish i could upload photos but i don't have internet at my new place yet so i have to get online when and where ever i can. I'll be making and starting a list for my junkyard thread so if your interested and want first dibs PM me and I'll start pumping these things out. I'll post pics ASAP

here are some photos of the first cast I'm gonna keep this one for myself i casted it quickly cause im not a patient man.. and I want to take my time with the ones i send out but this is what she looks like.

just a little flashing on the back where the mold splits but I'll be taking care of that for you.

took these photos with my cell so some look distorted or fuzzy but you get the picture

Cast looks really good dude. Do you plan on finishing up (painting, weathering, visor etc) that one?
