I got anxious and had to try some fabric I was using for my bug lenses.... Lightly sprayed regular gold spray paint on a visor I popped out of one of my old helmets. I think the template idea is going to work great.... This was an iridium face plate too so the colors change with the light.
That visor looks pretty legit I'm definitely gonna pick up that stencil. the helmet is about an 8th of and inch thick maybe slightly thicker I try to keep it uniform but slush casting is an art I'm still perfecting I'll take some photos for you and up load so you can get a better idea
I started my junkyard thread its located here http://www.therpf.com/f13/halo-4-master-cheif-helmets-189409/#post2963900
PM to get on the list if your interested.
I've been trying to pump out as many helmets as I can but they're alot more time consuming then I thought. heres a few I just finished up today
and with what little free time I have i rigged up some LED lighting for my helmet. the lights have 4 settings 1- bottom only 2- all four 3- top only 4- top flashing. the lights are way to bright so every photo looks the same but this is the just of it.
and I also spent about 10 minutes on the visor its not really even worth showing but I took the picture so here is it ( about as WIP as you can get )

I think i found the prefect plastic to vac form these too so hopefully that works out and I can get these going soon too
Took the night off from helmet making and picked up the visor to dial it in and make sure is symmetrical I might actually work on it later but I'm lazy today so....????
I also took a trip to the dollar store and walmart and build myself a $15 ball mill so I can make my own aluminum powder to try out some cold cast. its ugly as hell but it works and for $15 you can't be it
helmet orders are slowing down after this week I should have some more free time for the visor and start on other pieces of the armor
well i feel like a jerk cause I know a lot of people have been waiting on the visor but I just haven't had time plus I'm haven't been very gracefully lately and dropped or just broke my first two attempts... not to mention I've been haloing it up for the last year and I'm a little burnt out. On the bright side I woke up with a little pep in my step and started over on the visor... Third times a charm right?... RIGHT? I built the visor right on one of my less fortunate molds so when its done there should be no issues as far as fit. and its gives me something my clumsy hands can hang onto. just kind of slapped some putty on and got it pretty much where i want it. Gonna measure it out and clean it up then call it a day cause I'm starting to hate this thing. here is yet another photo of the WIP Visor
