Working on a halo 3 AR. If you want the model of Halo 2 helmet, you can get with "doom" here:

There are a lot of helmets based on the model, used for pepakura also:

This is what I'm working on. Repainting a life-size Muckle statue. So far I have resculpted some of the helmet and removed the solid visor...which was not easy. The new paint job is going to by very heavily weather.

I had to pry it off and it did break in half. It has a single bolt running from the center of the visor to the helmet. The bolt slides into a plastic clip that has barbs on it. It's obviously designed to never come off.

Thanks for the info
It will look better with a dual layer gold mirrored visor.

well, here's the first cast. Cast was good, then I royally screwed it up with the paint job.

I think what I'll do next time is cast it with black pigment, and then add the details. Black paint always comes out shiny for some reason, even when I buy flat.

Great job Adam

Here is a tip I have used on smaller items, I assume you are using a silicone rubber mold.

Before you close the mold and pour the resin spray the mold with flat black primer, until most of the mold surface is covered, then try some sliver
on top of that let all the paint and primer dry.
Pour your resin and when the resin is set the paint and primer will bound with the resin. use some light steel wool to weather off some of the black primer. The primer alone will help to protect the surface of your mold
and give you more pulls. If you have any questions please ask

I'm sure I'll have many more questions. I'm not sure I'm making the mold the way I should be.

anyways, here a closer look at the paint. I hope next time turns out a little better.

The Halo rifle looks awesome, may I ask how you were able to do all those fine details in wood? What technique/ tools did you use?

Again, great work!

Have you guys seen this?

Driving Under the Influence of Awesome

Um. The dudes at WETA made a Warthog. I don’t mean that they made a big plastic thing that looks like a Warthog. I mean they built a fully-functioning, four-wheel steering, powerful, off-road vehicle with a machine gun on the back. At the correct scale. If you live near Wellington, New Zealand, you might even see some crazy machine-shop dude from WETA fishtailing around your base, ahem, I mean neighborhood.

What’s it for? Well, a couple of things – one of which will be one of the shorts coming from director Neill Blomkamp. We sort of blindsided you guys with the first short (Arms Race) – it had little to no context or explanation, but when you see it as it was originally intended – as part of an overall narrative, you might just pee your pants. And if you don’t, then the picture below will certainly cause some leakage.
