Halliwax's weird V3 theory

Funny thing happened last night, my dad and I work together. We were working together the morning this Came out

So I get home last night and my mother who really does stairs because of a bad knee pays me a visit..

All concerned She asked me if everything is ok, because my father told her he thinks something is up with me. “He’s been on his phone all morning, he’s not focusing, and his hands and arms have been shaking all over the place, I think it’s girl problems or that kid is on drugs, he’s just not normal”

I had a huge chuckle... nope no problems besides fake lightsaber photos

Hey, heres a simple question or theme

If the Wired Saber is a cast of the V3 specifically (clamp holes, for example)

AND there is still cast metal flashing around the upper neck (From Vadermania)

Then it would show up in the mold. The cast would have to be cleaned up afterwards. I mean, I may need a refresher, it sounds like there was a nipple on this cast, given the barge climbing saber has a nipple and the clamp holes. So if the nipple was cut off, I don't see why they wouldn't sand off the flashing on the neck.

I think the resin stunts were definitely cleaned up, they have to clean them up from the resin flashing anyway, there was probably more flashing on them from resin then that actual original saber they cast it off of

Still believe it was cast with its nipple in it, just the wire saber had its nipple cut off

Poor thing :(

It would make sense, since the resin saber (which was cast from the v3) that we see in the R2 closeup shot has a completely flush emitter plate. If the casting had a recessed emitter hole, as the v3 does now, why bother filling the recess hole?

Seems to me that the thing that makes the most sense is that the used the fighting rod as the pour spru. So, depending on where you cut the spru, you got a nipple or a flat emitter plate.

Completely agree

That does make a lot of sense.

I'd be dying to know if any casts exist with the metal flash patterns still intact.

The barge saber was at least decorated to mimic the V2 with a gaffed neck and similar black spotted "opposite side" paint around the nipple

I think this R2 shot is yours, Anakin Starkiller

while watching this scene over and over... i dont know if im seeing a nipple... or a pour spout... this last picture looks like it even has the lower profile in the nipple...

I also remember reading, maybe in Wired or a costume book, that the scene where luke "turns off" the saber in the throne room was the wired saber or the V3 and not the V2. The V3 was bladed at the time, which made me think they just grabbed one of these castings.

As for those incredible screencaps (***** I can almost see the shine in the silver paint) I think the "pour spout" and "nipple" are one and the same. I think we're seeing a general cast of that weird V3 thick nipple system that came to light in the latest book reference. Looks to be wider and lower height than the V2's nipple. And I see the ridge too. It does look like it was just sawed off or has a blunt end to the nipple.

We were told multiple resin stunts were made an some still in the archives today

I believe the hollow pommel stunt is a left over r2 popper

That hollow chamber was used with pneumatic air setup to launch the thing.

But I completely agree. The v3 switches when luke is over vader, early on once vader falls you can see it’s the v3, but after lukes done looking at his hand, and when he deactivated the saber it’s clearly resin. The clamp card also changes drastically

The resin clamp card is much brighter

When Luke swings Leia off the sail barge “come on!” There is also another resin stunt in his belt, that disappears once the bikini wearing leia jumps into his arms..

Which now reminds me... bikini wearing leia in 4k.... I’ll be right back!

I was hoping for a more clear look but those guys were in the background and slightly out of focus.

Based on the colors I'm seeing in that saber I agree it's a stunt casting and not the Kenobi EP4 Hero. There would be no reason to clean up and polish the balance pipe and even if you did it would't be that aluminum color. I was hoping we might be able to see which version but sadly not enough detail, even in 4K.

Since we're talking about V3 casts.... I think the two R2D2 shots show different pulls.

The paint is different, the scratches and chips in the emitter are different, AND it seems the fired cast (#2) has more of a squashed misshapen emitter, as well as a slightly bulbous emitter plate. #1 seems very old and has lots of right angles to it.

barge saber also has a distinct pattern on the booster area

Looking at those, maybe the shape of the emitters is a better tell. You're right it could get damaged as those takes went on
