Honestly, my first thought was that this hole was the first one. It’s way too close to the edge, you can see the blow-out on top that’s either the socket or empty space.
I would imagine they then drilled lower into the solid core then, I guess that’s one way to find the edge lol
I’ve done this too. Without careful planning you can forget where the core starts and ends once it’s slid into place
I agree 100%! However, only two of the four black screws can secure this aluminum core. The black screw hole on the clamp is a bit too large, and you can see in the picture that the aluminum core has shifted to the right. The black screw on the left side may not be able to be tightened because the threads on the aluminum core have not been fully tapped?
Perhaps the screws on the black grips are all screwed into this aluminum core, serving to reinforce the fixation.
