Had a double dose of Judge Dredd today -

Yeah, that happens. They only order like three copies, and when they sell out, they order two more. Takes forever to get niche titles like that. I'll probably hit up Amazon for this one.

REDBOX! Just go to the website and do the rental online, so a copy's held for you at the kiosk! ;)

Oh... wait... you're in Japan? Well, in that case, JUST BUY IT! 'Cuz I have no clue if you have anything like a Redbox over there.

Yeah. No redbox for me. :( We have a little shoppette that carries a small selection and with all the people on this base compared to the tiny video rental section, it's safe to say that it is VERY hard to find a movie once it comes out.

I found it!! I just watched it. It was really good. I didn't think it would be so gory but it added to the dark tone of the film. I wish I would have seen it in the theaters. :(

Not real keen on the new helmet, though.. the big "X" in the middle kind of throws it off. Realistically, that's got to obstruct his vision. I think it would have looked better if they'd lopped off the bottom of the "X" and just allowed for more glass.

Well, I hate Stallone's JUDGE DREDD so much that I haven't watched it in over a decade and don't remember the helmet specifics. I watched the special contents feature on the blu ray and I believe that, while ergonomically I am in agreement with you, stylistically the helmets in DREDD (2012) are more accurate to the comics that have been running for thirtyfive years in England.

I might be mistaken, check it out.

The new Dredd helmet is smack on.
I have been a regular Dreddite since it began and it has taken the new version to dispel the '95 Stallone debacle.
Don't get me wrong, some bits were well done like the cityscape, the lawmasters,Mean Machine but shoe horning in a comic relief, a love interest, taking his helmet off and that codpiece are sins that are never to be forgiven.
I really really enjoyed the new version and thought Urban nailed the character, plus I thought the costume design was excellent...much more motorbike cop in the early Dredd stories than the huge eagles and steroidal muscles of later incarnations.
Just such a pity it wasn't embraced at the box office.

The new Dredd BD/DVD has been sold out @ 5 different stores i went to and on Backorder on Bestbuy's site. I lucked out and found 1 at Walmart yesterday. Only 1 copy remained on the display. Hopefully the sellout hints the studios to produce a 2nd film.

Really? Where do you live? I've seen those things everywhere - i took a trip recently to Seattle (just outside of) and the racks were stuffed. I'd love it if you're correct - both my son and myself want a Dredd 2: Better Off Dredd - lol

The sequel MUST be Dredd Vs. Death. I heard rumors that they were wanting to wait until the third film to do Judge Death, but there's already been 2 movies made with no Judge Death... it's high time they put him on screen.

If they can't get another live-action movie green-lit, the Producers need to go the Direct-To-DVD-&-Blu-Ray animated route, like the numerous DC Universe films that have been made over the last several years. :cool

My friends and I had a long running joke that Stallone's dialogue could be replaced with just the word "Law" uttered in different inflections/lengths and it would still make complete sense.
That said, I've been meaning to revisit the Stallone Dredd after enjoying the new Dredd so much.

Yeah. I couldn't find Stallone's JUDGE DREDD on-Demand last night, nor could I get it streaming on NetFlicks. I am not gonna buy that piece of crap for $14.99, so....
