Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 3

I’m waiting for the switch to X-Men, when I feel it will truly be a restart focusing on a new core group

Cast right, and it’s avengers all over again.

Feels these days, outside of Guardians, we’re watching all the side characters’ movies… there’s no core.

That's because the MCU is starting a brand new phase, and by brand new I mean brand new. Think about it, just about every MCU movie from the previous however many phases were essentially leading up to one thing, Thanos and what culminated in End Game. Now that all that's all over Marvel is setting up things for the next chapter of the MCU. We're getting introduced to new characters, something we got with Phase 1 & 2 (maybe) of the MCU, and at this point in Phase 1 & 2, Thanos and the Infinity Stones were only just barely being hinted at. This is what's happening now, they're setting things up for the next Avengers movie and as more movies come out, I guarantee you that we're going to be learning more about who the big bad for this next chapter in the MCU is and what's going to happen.

I thought the new big bad is Kang?

Yeah, he's gonna Wild Bunch the whole crew.
I think so too. I doubt that Gunn is concerned with helping Marvel set up stuff for Kang, and I doubt Marvel is interested in continuing the Guardians movies. So, it should be interesting to see what kind of film we get.

Isn’t that him in the trailer?

I’m guessing Adam warlock will have a change of heart in this movie..
I think, if it's who you're saying, that's the "High Evolutionary" played by Chukwudi Iwuji (Copy paste for spelling)... actor from Peacemaker... and character who made Rocket what he is.

Oh for sure.. but even following Captain America Falcon and all fighting Kang, still doesn't feel like a good strong core... but when Kang is done and they cast the core X-men and build villains and side characters off that core... and a core group of Fantastic Four... that's where they can truly kick it back in gear and then bring back some of the earlier phases characters as guests.

If cast right they get their next "Scarlett, Downey, Hemsworth, Evans, Rufallo, Hawk Guy" in "Cyclops, Ice Man, Jean Grey, Beast, Xavier"

though that would be the third casting of those characters... harder to own.

Yeah, that and I think the actors are probably ready to move on. Like, they've done their bit, it was fun, and now it's time to pack it in. Soooo....wild bunch 'em. There were just too many sequences in the trailer that made me think "Oh yeah, everyone's gonna die."

I’m gonna have to go back and watch it again, wonder who that is?

The High Evolutionary (guy on the left) is the main villain of the film. But Adam Warlock (on the right) was also in the trailer. The inter-dimensional monster that the Guardians fought at the beginning of Vol 2 was also in the trailer. Based on this, the Sovereign probably will be a minor plot.

Edit: Re-read and realized that the conversation was about Kang being in the trailer. I had interpreted it as a question of Adam Warlock being in the trailer. Sorry.

No worries at all buddy, appreciate the effort in helping me understand

I'm really not ready to see this film.

Screen grab from the Quill screams. Is that Kraglin? Seems to be a hint of the mohawk (left) and his chin. Could also be Nebula. Looks too thin to be Drax. Peter grew up with Kraglin, so his extreme reaction would fit more than Nebula.

Curious how Warlock will be handled in this, they tend to simplify many characters for the films, I understand why. I could have watched a whole movie just about Thanos. LOL Warlock can do amazing things in comics, if he gets hold of the soul stone somehow he could resurrect the dead even. But we didn't get a Starlin level Thanos so I can't expect a Starlin level Warlock.

I wonder about the planet they land on with all the aliens. It looks like a regular US suburb, but all the cars are from the 70s and 80s it seems. Mayhaps the Guardians will engage in a bit of multiverse travel.

It's more than likely Counter-Earth, the High Evolutionary's planet that's identical to our Earth, but located on the other side of the sun, so we can never detect it. It's a place where his creations can live their lives as he observes them.
