Grip glue

I bought a non-working ANH hilt from Parks about 2 years ago and now I want to convert it to an ESB. I am wondering what the best way is to dissolve the glue on the grips so I can take them off.

ok i got the grips off with some goo gone, but now i have patches of the adhesive still let on the hilt, but the goo gone isn't working on that. Any ideas on getting rid of the left-over adhesive?

I have no idea what the hilt is made from but if it's metal, acetone and a few Q-tips should do the trick. Don't do this with anything painted though or it will strip everything off. Don't do it with plastic either as it will start softening and eating that too.
