Gonk Droid Sound file

Hey everyone.

A semi-local 501st member recently constructed a really nice Gonk droid costume for his son or daughter to wear for events. Its actually really cool and I still cant get over it.

The ONLY thing it's missing right now is it's signature "Gonk" sound to come off of it. I couldnt find anything, and my last resort was to go record it off the TV from my star wars battlefront game.

Would anyone happen to have it? Thanks!

The problem is, the sounds in the movie have some music over them, so you won't get a clean file easily.

The droid appears in a number of the video games, but I can't remember if it has the sounds or not. I'll see what I can come up with.

I know there is this file in the game Star Wars Galaxies, unfortunatly I dont know how to extract it, and where is it lol this MMORPG is something like 10 Go :lol But maybe that's a clue !

I still have my old five (floppy/hard) disc set of that Star Wars audio/video screen saver that came out over a decade ago.

It's on what's more recently called "floppy" discs... But I remember when there really were FLOPPY discs and these were called hard discs. So, it's meant for older DOS programs, like the old Windows 95.

Somehow when I had it installed in one of my old computers, I had extracted some of the audio soundbytes and put them into their own file, so I could use them as sounds for my system, like when Windows starts up and shuts down, when I delete something, etc... And when I transfered files from one computer to another, those files transfered as well, without problem, and they still work to this day.

I never specifically saved a "Gonk" sound, but I'm fairly sure that it might be in these discs.

The only thing is, I can't use them now, the way PC's are set up these days.

When I put the discs into my drive and try to install it, I get this...

I see that and I just sit there doing this... :confused :confused :confused :confused

Anyone know how to get this to install? I'm using XP.

Head to this site http://scumm.mixnmojo.com/ and download a nifty app called SCUMM.

With that app, you'll be able to retrieve every Star Wars sound from any SW game... Super hi-res, straight from Lucasarts sound archives. Every sound file is separated and super clean. :)

I did this back when I couldn't find clean, hi quality lightsaber sound clips. I popped in my Episode 1 game and snagged every sound FX I needed.

Hope that helps!

Oh... IIRC, there are gonk droids in Jedi Knight.

Just a little off-topic here, but somewhat relative...

I made a full-size GONK Droid for myself to troop when the Star Wars:Where Science Meets Imagination was here, in town. I did it on a dare.

Needless to say that thing was super heavy - like an idiot I had made it out of plywood. But it certainly had an overwhelming effect on the kids... even if it was a six-foot tall GONK Droid.

Here is a pic:

I didn't really do any sounds for this one... I just sort of walked around saying "gonk...... gonk..... gonk....... gonk, gonk, gonk..... gonk....."

Like I said, it did go over pretty well with the kids. Now that I have worked with plastic a little bit, the next version will be way, way lighter!

Hey,
Looks like this thread has been dead for a long time, but I'll try anyway!
Did anyone end up finding a clean gonk sound? I try'd Scumm and I guess it is gone now, I just kept getting errors. Please help the new guy, I have everything I need except the sound!
Thanks,
Dan
