Just re-release Gladiator in the theater for it's 25th anniversary, which is right around the corner, rake in a ton of cash, and call it a day. Do we need another pointless sequel?

Ridley, like Hollywood, has been bankrupt of ideas for years…..

My take on him is he does best when it's someone else's story and he sticks to mostly directing. He starts to take over too much of a story and it goes off the rails. If that makes sense.

Honestly, the only thing I could see being done is a prequel involving Proximo, Oliver Reed's character from the first film. But even then, I don't think this film needs a prequel, nor does it need a sequel (mostly because it has a definitive end to the story). It's perfectly okay to just have one film.

From the sounds of it, it's a sequel but not exactly a direct sequel. So it might work but it will almost certainly be just as historically inaccurate as the first.

That's what they say in the video, this sequel is going to be focused on the kid of Maximus.

I know this is supposed to be a sequel, but it looks be more of a derivative remake of the first Gladiator, but with different actors playing the same characters (even Denzel appears to be playing Proximo from the first film)…

….there are even camera shots / cinematography and costumes that appear to be replicated from the first film.
