GHOSTBUSTERS Pre-Release - film discussion only, no social commentary please!

I'm fine with the them making another Ghostbusters film. The ghosts look good. I like the cast and Paul Feig. But the trailers just look blah. Kristen Wiig's voice over sounds like she's half asleep. No urgency in what she's saying at all and I'm a fan of her's. It just looks like a paint by the numbers remake. They probably would have been better off making it a sequel rather than a straight reboot.

That's how I feel, just tweak the script a little and call it Ghostbusters 3 and you would have been able to make most people happy. All they had to do was say that it's 30 years later and the current cast are either franchisees or descendants (daughters or nieces) of the original gang, problem solved. You get your female cast to satisfy the feminists and it's a sequel which would make most fans of the originals happy. Sure, some fans wouldn't be happy that it's not featuring the original cast but at least it's not a reboot and some feminists/SJWs might be pissed that they're riding on the coattails of the male cast and they weren't bold enough to just replace the entire original cast with women and not have anything to do with the original but I think a sequel would have pleased more people than not.

reading some of the online comments, some folks make a good point.

even if they made it a part 3, it'd STILL be a paul feig movie. the man has no talent for anything but over the top bad comedy attempts.

A ghostbusters 3 with paul feig would still be just as bad, but at least it'd be a sequel.
and we could move past feig when it was done.

I don't know why i remove some people from ignore. their posts of the same articles is sad atthis point.

hah Maybe one day you'll type something similar in another thread and do some self-reflection on this statement.

Ah who am I kidding you've probably blocked me not because I've posted anything gross but because I supported this movie.

Im starting to think the only way a person can get excited for this movie, considering what they have shown, is to be paid by the studio, or some sort affiliate. Yeah thats a blanket statement but I dont care. Who actually wants this movie? Its insane to me at this point. Especially the way that its being "marketed".

My friend Abigail Gardner's fan manifesto that caused a stir for some reason, for telling it like it is maybe?

http://splashmommy.tumblr.com/post/145277518814/ghostbusters-2016-manifesto

This was really difficult to get through. Did she write songs for the spice girls? Im seriously asking, cause it reads like some of their girl power songs.

A friend's tumblr post is a repeat article? Oh well, as I always say, I've got hundreds of people dying to abuse me.

Luckily at our local con last week the ladies on my team that just finished their reboot gear didn't have any issues with trolls in person, but that's natural since trolls aren't as remotely courageous in person as online. They were legitimately worried, which really stinks. You shouldn't have to second guess your fandom just because a bunch of people keep saying you're wrong to like something or be excited about something.

The funny thing, is that their cosplay looks almost on par with a major studio backed film. I love how you are calling "trolls" cowards just because they arent on board, or see a reason for this movie. They were worried what nerds were going to say at a local con? How many people could have gone? What were they worried about anyway? A ton of things are like that though. They must be new to fandoms then. They will get used to it. Doesnt sound like they are really that big of fans if they are second guessing themselves. Just sayin. But then again my "local con" is SDCC so I cut my teeth on that long ago. Cause cmon, how much have the Ghostbuster fandom really seen, outside of this movie recently? I would imagine not much considering how old it is.

As in verbally harassed by jerks. Second guessing as in "if I wear this, am I going to get bugged, called names etc. and have a completely miserable time" Luckily the reaction was great. Not everyone in this world is super confident ya know. I only gained my confidence in life by being a buster.

Cowards as in they'll call our ladies disgusting names when I post their pictures on our social feeds, telling them to burn their uniforms, jump off a bridge etc, but wouldn't do so in person. Which of course, is a good thing.

Our con passed 100,000 people last week which is insane, our local con shouldn't be getting to SDCC numbers. It takes a lot of fun out of the situation, especially when it's a 116 and people are stuck in line outside for hours to get their tickets.

As for how their gear looks, reference photos available anywhere.

Believe me I wish I was getting paid in Ecto-Cooler. I'd sure as hell say anything then!

Man... Neil T's venomous hate on this thread ALONE now makes me hope it's the biggest hit of the year (Now I gotta hear how tattoo's are disgusting?)

I come in this thread the read about what's up, and it's just SO much hate, I think some of you need to step away from movies for a while.

we are still allowed to have opinions in this world lol

Just because it's negative doesn't mean it's 'hate'!

;o).

this movie really is mass hysteria at this point, isn't it?

just to show i'm not all devil incarnate, here is a picture of a cute puppy..

As much as I think this movie is a big pile, the costumes here look great and I do fully support people that are interested in this movie. It's fine if they want to see it and enjoy seeing it, but it's just not for me, to put it nicely.

It took a really long time for the new props and uniforms to grow on me believe me. I think the situation is not too different than with old stormtroopers vs First Order armor. I know troopers that jumped on new armor to build and ones that will never convert. For myself I think I'll always stick to classic gear.

That manifesto didn't improve my opinion of the movie at all, in fact it's all the same stuff the pro-movie folks have been saying. I'm glad I don't buy new movies so i know I'm not funding the studio to make crap like this.

don't worry. pro movie people are starting to go insane at this point. where as anti movie people went insane dealing with this crap months ago, because we know it'll just continue with hollywood wrecking things no matter what we do. one place online is even starting to ban ANY negative opinion of the movie in the next week or so for two months. while, at the same time, antagonizing those people against it with articles like the above posted. the only opinions that get through, will be the sony narrative, and they wonder why people think they are getting paid by sony at this point ;o).

it really isn't healthy following any of it at this point, but it's like a train wreck, you can't take yourself away at seeing how ridiculous it's going to get.
