GHOSTBUSTERS Pre-Release - film discussion only, no social commentary please!

It flies against all logic and sanity, doesn't it? yet, that was article #463 that I see posted around the net daily. I could easily post 200 or so that all read the same, including videos. Oh well, I'll give hat article one thing. at least it didn't compare us to nazi germany like one video did. that got downvoted into oblivion rather quickly.

Wow, If all those articles are saying the same thing...

You know, the whole "if you meet one jerk in the morning" joke...

I actually thought that international trailer was better than the others I've seen. There is still a lot of comedy that fall flat, but it wasn't nearly as bad as the one from the other day.

It's funny... we're judging how well they're trying to sell this pile in the trailer edits, but still besides the (probable) fact that it is bottom line going to be a terrible film.

The acting even looks terribly flat and done in sort of this mocking kind of way.

I am just so surprised by all this. Has there been ANY comment or interview with any of the original crew on their thoughts, or any defense from Aykroyd himself about it? Where are they in their stance of all this? Or have the studios legally signed them to not comment until after release?

Guess I'm a masochist but I watched the second/international trailer there.....still not seeing it,it still looks dumb as dirt and more of a rip off then a remake or whatever and it almost seems like they're trying to copy both GB and GBII in one film which begs to ask how are they going to do two? since Fig seems to have no talent beyond copying then he's out of material and he's going to have to be original to make two, never mind three.

if you believe reddit and other sources, cast and crew have signed a NDA prohibiting them from trashing or really saying anything about the film. for fear of a F4 debacle.

Notice that Dan A. is GB's biggest cheerleader, and he's been comm silent since the first trailer was announced. he put something up two days ago announcing the second trailer, but other than that, he hasn't been doing interviews, press junkets. nothing. I can't help but wonder if even he's ashamed of this thing. We pretty much know reitman probably is based on reports here.

Hudson is supposedly doing press for another show right now.

And another thing to think about... I would think that if Aykroyd DOES believe in this film that the studios would have no problem letting him defend and speak out against the negative comments because it would be great press for the film. The fact that he has been silent worries me that he doesn't like what he sees at all.

I would see no reason otherwise for the studios to not allow any cast to say something immensely positive if it's going to help sell the film. The only one i've seen on the defense is Feig lashing back.

I love this line..
>>Many people have assumed this is a new version of the original movie’s Stay Puft Marshmallow man, but it isn’t: this is Rowan,>>

Uhm....I guess they missed the part where he's smashing through buildings and about 100 feet tall?

just another line of things that don't make sense in this whole mess.
The only show this cast is allowed to go on is ellen, apparently. Surprised that other lady, wendy williams on channel 9 isn't getting them.

The former crew/cast aren't gonna badmouth this. That's bad for business -- their own business, I mean. Nobody wants to be labeled as "difficult to work with" and nobody wants to be treated as someone who'll slag off someone else's project, especially if you've also done a cameo in it. Everyone will keep mum about this. That would only change MAYBE if the film is a complete dumpster fire and the studio basically leaves it in the cold to be devoured by wolves. Which, realistically, is not gonna happen.

At a guess? Probably start to really deviate from anything we've seen before. His original concept was to eventually have the GBs become sort of loosely connected with the government and have some secretary of whatever out there disclaiming the existence of ghosts and badmouthing them, while privately thanking them and coordinating with them. He could do that, or start doing other stuff, on the theory that this is a "bridge film."

Except it isn't, really. TFA is a "bridge film" to bring in old fans and new alike. This one...they've already lost a lot of the old fans.

it's funny.. we've now had THREE ghostbusters films with essentially the same plot.

the only area that has shown us that this franchise can not only do more, but better, is the IDW comic and the animated series.

Here's a good story in Esquire to counteract the Angey dude that lives in his mom's basemet or whatevs -

You're Whining About the Ghostbusters Reboot Because You're Still a Child and Need to Grow Up

The original movie will still be around. Movies aren't made just for you, etc, etc.

Still, it is 100% ok to look at the trailer and say "This is not for me" or "I don't like the look of it". It is all this teeth gnashing that is so ridiculous.

I've seen other articles just like that, spurned on by James Rolfe's video. Did you watch it for yourself? Probably one the most reasonable and logical arguments toward the remake. People have a right to dislike it and criticize it. There have been some that's gone too far and even attacked the people behind the film on social media. But, a lot of these articles are lumping all the naysayers together. People who have a passion for something tend to get defensive, and they don't want to see it messed with. That's not a bad thing.

Boy, I should go back through my Facebook timeline and screenshot some of the people who got pissy at me for being perturbed about some people pushing for a PG-13 Deadpool cut...

What would be the point of any actor past or present defending the film? Most of the naysayers will just say they have been paid off or the studio made them say nice things. Not even worth it I'm sure.
