This quote embodies everything that I've been saying about what's wrong with Hollywood today.
Look at that quote. Then look at it again.
They do not care about making a quality film. they care about "connecting" to the "assets" of the original material. In essence, they dress up whatever crappy film in the intellectual property of the previous film and call it a day.
This is how Hollywood works now.
When you pay to see films like this, you tell Hollywood "Keep up the good work, guys, and remember -- I'll see anything if you slap the logo on it and make a halfway decent trailer!"
"Agree that everyone is way too nervous about how this issue and how we. present it but it's isn't a sequel to the 80s movies and it is gonna be totally original with completely different characters and our job is to find a clever way to connect the movie to the original franchise so that we can use all the assets and everything that is great about the original franchise [sic],"
