Getting started with augmenting prop guns?

Hey folks!

I'm usually a soft-costumer (ie, I do a lot of sewing) but I do also do some resin casting and sculpting.

I've done some gun repaints and some minor modifications,... but I was wondering if there were some links or tutorials that you could start me off with?

Like, if I wanted to take a Nerf gun and add some sculpted bits... what would I use to sculpt the added bit?

I did look through the faqs and stickies a little, but I didn't find what I'm sure must be here somewhere. Thanks a bunch.

I would go with Apoxie Sculpt. It's a 2 part epoxy clay. Great stuff for mods and such.
Hope that helps.

I second that! That stuff is great. It cleans up with water, self hardening over a 24hrs. It will stick to just about any material, sands easy.

When you mix the 2 parts (1-1) it starts off really stick and soft, but in about 10-20 min it sets up to a clay consistancy, and in about 1hr, sets up like a wax and you can put some great detail into it.

There is not much in the form of dedicated tutorials around, since most of the build threads give great insight into how things are done. The methods are usually very similar, you might want to search for "Scratch build", there are several gun threads for Hellboy´s samaritan, Aurra Sing blasters and much more.
