General Doctor Whoniverse Discussion

Tom (not being unfair) is looking rather different these days. On the one hand I'd love to see him back on screen, but I'm not sure they could get away with the same excuse they used for Peter Davidson looking a little older. After all, Tom's hair is now a rather dashing white.
Maybe if they used some Hollywood CGI trickery to have him act, but overlay him with a younger version? So long as the story is good, though.

If they're smart, they'd come up with a story where the doctor's should have aged...Obviously there's no way to stick a guy in a current show who last occupied the role 30 years ago. They did the E space stuff in the past, you could always pull them from a parallel universe. Cheesy? maybe, but as long as you knock that out of the way early, and the rest of the 2-3-4 (or more, i can hope :) ) hours are a great story, fine by me.

Aged Clone perhaps?

Here's something: the 4th took the moral highground in Genesis and didn't destroy the daleks although he left a trap to let them set themselves back some. Maybe 11 is going to take a different route this season?

This. He's old. No need to hide it. Any cgi trickery is an affront to the man.

And definitely use McGann.

just out of curiosity: does anyone else want to chuck their computer out the window when they read the coments on youtube for a DW video and there are a bunch of fangirls taking up the top cpmments with OMGGGGG TENNNNNNANT IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOO AWESOME THEY SHOULD HAVE KEPT HIM FOREVER I WORSHIP THE VERY AIR HE BREATHES AND ONCE KILLED A MAN FOR A MICROGRAM OF HIS DNA!!!!!!!! type deal? I mean sure, he was good and all, but as the Doctor himself said in "the Flesh" storyline:"WE'VE MOVED ON FROM THAT!!!"

I just want to hunt those girls down, hand them a "personal vibrating deep muscle massager" and ask them to use it before surfing the internet so the rest of us can get some enjoyment out of it. The internet...not the other thing.

On the bright side, I guess it is a good way to figure out who the fangirls are. just post a DW video, have a 2-second clip of tennant mixed in, and see who comments on/ links back to those two seconds. It's Foolproof!

I thought Gillan and Darvill were on their way out and the Doctor was getting a new companion...?

They are and he is. Jenna Louise Coleman is her name, IIRC. The Ponds are in the first batch of episodes, but I'm not sure when they're leaving...if it's the episode before the Christmas Special or the first episode of the 2nd half of the series.

Here's hoping the Angels in Manhattan is better than when the Daleks visited... :lol

It's always weird seeing the Doctor in the US. Feels wrong to me.

Angels is the Ponds' last episode.

I was wearing a Tardis shirt the other day and the check out girl at the market said, "Oh my God, I can't watch the new season."

me: "Why?"

Her: "I heard one of the Ponds is going to die. For real. Not in an alternate universe. Really dead."

tick tock....

Good.

Seriously, it's about time a REAL companion died. Not fake dead, not alternate reality dead, but dead dead. The Doctor has faced this before, several times, and it's important that people realize that life with the Doctor is DANGEROUS.

Agreed. I even liked the "Rose stranded" thing. Would have been so much more powerful had she never returned to the series but they spoiled it.

If I thought she had real info, I wouldn't have posted it. :)
It was a funny conversation though.
I agree with Solo. I don't see it happening, but Moffat needs to bring the scary.
