gas pistol muzzle flash question

Okay guys I have a question...... i know that in Hollywood hey have modified gas airsoft guns shooting propane that the prop masters have modified with an electronic spark to shoot a flame out the barrel. I have always wanted to try this but wanted to see if anyone has even attempted this. I dont wanna blow myself up lol.!.I own a gas nbb airsoft pistol and my question is will it work or will it just simply blow up my airsoft gun? Now the way I was thinking about doing this was to put a sparker it the tip of the barrel ive made many gunfight videos and im working on a little film now...... has anyone tried this?

Im not sure how well it will work. I tried shooting a gas blow back gun into a flame (probably an extremely stupid idea) but nothing happened. Maybe invest in a blank shooting gun.

Its not as easy as your making it sound yet not that complicated either. Gas conversions are old skool but mostly used on heavy or larger machine guns. However its NOT common to convert an airsoft gun for that use due to the weak pot metal or plastic they are made from. This is why real steel demilled weapons are used or metal parts fabricated that can withstand the heat and abuse of the spark and flame.

If your talking about "non guns" then yes, most are converted off the shelf air soft guns. They have a small set of custom hand made internals and are really not the best replacement for old fashioned blank fire movie gun muzzle flash. In fact ive seen non guns malfunction or misfire ten times more than a standard 9mm blank. The cheap 8mm blanks are terrible. If you do some simple google searching you will see 9mm forward fire blank guns are readily available in many different style of handguns and ammo is cheap enough for film use.

I highly discourage you from trying to convert an airsoft gun to double muzzle flash practically. Although you can live without them, you only get ten fingers and two eyes at the starting line. Its up to you if you want to keep them all the way to the finish line.

Using a gas blow back handgun to an open flame is an awful idea.. I've seen people do it, and the entire gun caught on fire.

The store I used to work for, provided firearms for several movies and TV shows.
These were all actual firearms converted to fire and cycle with blank cartridges. When a non firing scene was called for, Non guns or resin look alkes were used.

In reenacting (mainly WW2 to my knowledge), real rifles and pistols are blank adapted. Machine guns (M1919s and higher in caliber) can be made in to "propane" guns...and those are typically mounted on vehicles. Semi-auto 1919s (and those lucky enough to still have full auto Class III 1919s) are blank adapted.

Turning a pistol or rifle into a propane sounds like it's more trouble than it's worth.
