I must say that I was a bit apprehensive after seeing reports that the new parts might not play well with vintage. I have a vintage Graflex that just needed a red button. My concerns increased a bit when another Graflex maker said this on their page selling red buttons:

Available Options:
Original Threading - This option includes a bezel that has the exact same threading and fit of an original Graflex Button Bezel.

2.0 / Romans Threading - This option includes a bezel that has an alternative tighter threading that fits the 2.0 and Romans replicas out there.

But then Roman's red button screwed in just fine, phew! And it looks absolutely fantastic. It replaced a static/non-functioning button that had a slightly yellow-ish chrome look. The chrome on Roman's perfectly matched my vintage flash and looks amazing. It makes such a difference. And it's functional!

Very pleased.

I'll deny it of anyone ever asks, but I actually swapped the glass eyes between my Vintage and Roman's. Roman's actually looks more like the Folmer, which I want for my ANH build, and my vintage glass eye has always had a chip in it exposing the brass and since I plan to use Roman's for a TFA build it made sense. Point being-- the glass eye works perfectly with the vintage and actually looks better than the original one I had in there.

Romans button screws in fine on my vintge. But romans glass eye doesnt. Cant even get it in enought to reach the thread

In case anyone was wondering.... yes the dark lettering on the Graflex logo will come off with acetone :)

I was a very late order, but I got mine now, all assembled.

I'm childishly happy with this thing. Thanks for doing the run Romans. Mark down one more VERY satisfied customer.

Count me in for MPP.

So my suggestion worked? :)

Still not sure why you'd want to remove that... I think it's a fantastic touch, and had a hard time keeping it a secret. :D but I am glad you were able to remove it. :)

I might try shaving down the new threads and just placing it in my vintage.

I'm hesitant though.

oh I thought it was great but I did it for screen accuracy cuz it was worn off by filming time. I think it was a great idea to give us an essentially brand new out of the box 1930's-1940's flashgun :). Roman you did a stupendous job on this project. The MPP will be as equally great I am sure.

Edit: Some build details:

-My glass eye unscrewed easily. I just popped it onto the rubber drum used for sanding wheels on my Dremel. Even though it was spinning, the filing wasn't even all the way around, so some parts became smooth faster. It took a while tbh.

-Red button is SUPER stuck.

-Cut the hex screws and epoxied them to the grips before attaching them.

-Used the paper grip template. I couldn't really figure out an easy way to use it so I cut out the sections where the grips go and aligned the first grip with the clamp.

-Same clamp finish issues as with others, but it doesn't matter since I'll be using a clamp cover.

-Aligned the Kobold with the clamp grip, then marked and drilled it. Screwed the hex screws right in.

The only problem I really found was that the band attached to the bunny ears was askew so it sagged a little on the right side. Since I don't plan on squeezing the bunny ears for any reason, I epoxied the side that was misaligned.

I can't wait for my other parts to arrive and I'm happy to finally get this. I popped some batteries in it just now and I love the weight. Also, this is kind of fun.

It looks great! Since I was building a TFA hilt, the Graflex's clamp got switched with the clamp on my OB1 since only the No Name clamp was offered at the time I bought that.

Anyone have any suggestions for troubleshooting the operation of the glass eye light? When I first got mine I popped in some batteries, like others have done, and it worked fine. Then after playing with it a little bit the light went out. Tried removing the glass eye to check the bulb and it came back to life only to stop again shortly after that. Now nothing I do will get it to light up. I know not a critical function but it is cool to be able to light it up when desired. Bulb filament is OK. Batteries are new. Seems something with the switch mechanism perhaps.

After ringing things out with a meter seems the bulb IS toast. Getting voltage across the contacts in the bulb socket so it seems all is good on the flash side. Closer inspection of the bulb with magnification I can see the filament is broken :cry Is the bulb fairly standard and readily available or do I need to scour the net looking for one? Anyone have a good source?
