Does anyone know offhand if the glass eye is made of brass?

I need to trim down the knurling to convert it to a TFA saber and wany to know if the brass will be under the plating.

I turned down the knurling on my Roman's Graflex replica glass eye.
This is also what those shiny brass pins look like after sitting in ammonia fumes for about 4 hours:

I also replaced my ears and screw with a vintage set. :)

Got mine in today as well (January order). Honestly, it's about as perfect replica I've ever seen. The ONLY way I could tell real fast compared to my real one is only becuase my real one has a bit more wear.

The lever that comes on the flash is closer to the real thing. But the bars on the standalone clamp look closer to the real ones, the flash version has little notches cut out of the corners of the bars where they are bent and the real one doesnt have those.

Are the belt tabs that support the ears cracked in that photo? It looks like the metal is cut on the back side.

They only look like that at the corners, not all the way across.

If they have a begining crack already, they probably are not a good start to make a saber version with bent back tabs (like the Vader ROTJ, for example). Those tabs are already stressed and prone to breaking without having those cracks. Bending them back flat easily makes them break off.

Also curious how others are grinding the knurling off their glass eye and keeping it smooth. Just go at it with a dremel?
