Limited Run === G R A F L E X === Flashgun Gen.2 ... now taking PRE-ORDERS!!! New Pics Oct. 5

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

Also curious how others are grinding the knurling off their glass eye and keeping it smooth. Just go at it with a dremel?

IF i ever decide to make a TFA, then i would use my Lathe. ;)

Another easy way would be to use a drillpress and a handfile.

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

I think there are a few people in the TFA saber thread that have done it with a hand-drill and a file.

Is there a way of mounting the glass eye on the dremel so to use the dremel as a lathe then just use files? Others on the research thread have said they have used drills, I'll have to try when mine shows up --- Tracking says 'Out from Delivery' -- 1 or 2 hours mail the mail shows up, yay!

That doesnt work on a real or replica glass eye though, they dont have a threaded rod to stick in the drill like the 2.0 inaccurately has

I was wondering this as well since I plan a TFA build for my Roman Graflex. Maybe you just need a drill with a wide enough chuck

Bolt, nut, eye bezel, rubber washer, nut. Stick on drill, spin and file.

Alternative... Jam it tightly onto a wooden dowel. Stick on drill, spin and file.

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

Wow, I can't see any real problems some have reported. My top and bottom match, not one shinier than the other. Rabbit ears straight up and down, not in an angled Y. Bottom stamped part is a little brighter than the top and bottom tubes but not near chrome, looks fine. The clamp bars and the red button are chrome like, and the clamp bars and surrounding area has an orange peel to the plating, only thing really wrong though I'm weathering mine so don't care. Lines cut into the clamp are rough, extra clamp was much cleaner -- extra clamp is much brighter - that looks more like chrome than any part on the Graflex, minus the red button housing. Really great job, haha, now time to play!!

Mine just arrived! I'm gonna light off some fireworks!
Roman you are amazing!!! I was only expecting the 1 I ordered last January, but you got the one I ordered a few weeks ago too.
I'm heading out the door, I'll post photos later. But I am totally blown away. One is just pristine, while the other has some slight issues with the lower end. Looks like something bumped it before the plating set. No problem though, I'll be putting t-tracks & a d-ring on it. & hey, it was rolling around Obi-Wans trunk for years before he gave it to Luke.
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU Roman!!!
For those still waiting, they're on the way, & they're magnificent!

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

Ok, here's my dremel glass eye bezel setup. Rubber cylinder the sanding wheels fit on to was the perfect size to fit in the back of the glass eye bezel. I unscrewed the screw on the top, removed the washer, then had -- rubber cylinder, glass eye bezel, buffing disc, then washer. the buffing disc was too thick for the little screw at the end so I cut it in two with a serrated knife. I added a bevel to the edge also. Photos I've seen makes it look like a band of brass with nickel on either side, but Roman's eye bezel is showing all brass. I think it looks really good.

I have parts from 3 different sabers all spread out now, lol. My Roman OB1 is getting the clamp from this Roman Graflex. The Graflex is getting the "No Name" clamp that came with my OB1 as it's going to be a TFA version. I have Roy's cover but I don't think I am going to use it, just the No Name clamp for now, can always add the clamp cover later. My Anakin Starkiller V2 will finally get the additional clamp I ordered, will have to grind the inner tabs on the clamp off later this afternoon.

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

Roman, thank you! This may be the closest I ever come to owning a real graflex. I can't jump into the pile with people arguing about the pros and cons because I haven't even seen a real graflex , let along own one. I can say that mine has a uniform and even finish. The bottom finish is so slight I can't see what the fuss is all about. If it hadn't been pointed out, its possible I wouldn't have caught it. Besides, anyone that has ever seen my builds would know that I weather the heck out them anyways, as long as it resembles the actual prop that is.

I have a custom saber shop v2 that I used to take some comparison photos. TCSS version is only an empty hilt and more for making a working saber. (Which I may do someday) it may be unfair to compare the two, (more like apples and oranges. ) however, romans graflex is far superior and will make a terrific and realistic prop.

Needless to say, I'm really happy with this. Thanks again Roman. And if you if do the mpp, I'm in. Lol

Re: === G R A F L E X === Flashgun ... NOW SHIPPING!!!

Got mine today, love it! Thanks Roman!

A mini review: I have had several Graflexes, but haven't owned one for awhile. This replica feels heavier. Can't confirm, but it has a really pleasing heft that I like. Could be in my head. Mine does have a few small blemishes and plating imperfections (incl some orange peel on the clamp), but since I plan to "antique" mine a bit, it doesn't bother me. The shiny bottom is no big deal to me, but it IS shiny! I'm not sure why some are fussy about it though. It's an easy fix. The flash came with waaaaaay spread out bunny ears, but a few squeezes brought them closer to parallel easy-peasy, which I find more attractive.

The only thing I'm maybe not 100% on is one of my bunny ears is flat on top, like the rounded tip was cut off just a smidge. Dunno if that's just mine or a production error. If I thought Roman had replacement ears, I might ask about swapping them out, but it doesn't bug me enough to justify shipping back the whole flash.

Overall, I'm very pleased. I've had several real Graflexes and the Parks replica over the years, so I feel comfortable saying that Roman nailed this one. Thanks for making it happen!

Here are my two babies :love

This one you can kinda see what others are talking about with the kinda ruffed texture on the clamp right by the handle. Honestly, this is my first time seeing it... & it's in the photo, & that's only cause it's in the glare of the lights. Seriously, a quick hit with a Brillo, or whatever, & it'll be gone.

Here you can see the one of mine with the finish problem, on the right. But, that's where the d-ring will go, so no one will see it. Aaaaannnd I'm thinking about ordering another 1 or 2 lower pieces & red button, for movie swapping purposes.

& I couldn't help myself. I had to throw batteries in one for giggles. Wish I had a flash bulb. I tell ya though, you could use this thing for a flashlight!

I just wanted to add that mine arrived today. I ordered Jan 28th, and the TFA kit I ordered in May was included. Thanks, Roman!
