I've got nothing to lose in this... I simply subscribed because I was seriously interested but have been watching it for a while.

I'm kind of surprised RPF hasn't come up with a better model for transactions on here given that this seems to be kind of common on here.

Not always. I've been burned 3 times, 2 of them by people well known in the community and they had been delivering for a long time and still had a good rep at that point. I will no longer pay up front, deposits or whatever. I will pay once they have item in hand and ready to ship. If that's not acceptable. I guess my loss, I'm just not interested in losing any more money.

So you think he purposely half built our Alien Warrior heads then ran away with the cash unjustly? All I'm saying is that there must be a valid reason for him going out of contact. He was pretty sick. If he passed away, I think that's a valid reason. Or if he's hospitalised and incapacitated, that's a valid reason. I had cash in this as well so we're all in the same boat here.

Whatever happened happened literally overnight. Marty and I had been emailing almost daily about things unrelated to the head which I had ready purchased and he was outfitting with his brand new tongue. I sent him an email one evening expecting a reply by the morning (at the latest) and did not hear back. I emailed a few days later and nothing. Waited a while longer and still nothing. A few weeks later, nothing. It was then I realized something was wrong.

I know Marty would not intentionally burn anyone. He was far too excited about his heads and newly created tongue to just run away and leave people hanging. He has indeed gone dark for some very valid reason. I hope that reason is not a grave one...

Same thing happened with me. We were discussing in detail over a number of emails what he had done and was going to do with my Alien head and tongue then kaput, no more correspondence.

And you can STILL get done; I've lost a grand to some motorcycle eBayer with an excellent rep and have lost out on JY deals too. Fact of life; all the sellers seemed legit and doubtless were to begin with. I blame burnout as the most likely cause. (Not for the motorbike guy, that's his bloody day job, grrr.)

Aaron, it doesn't have to be a matter of making a conscious decision to be the bad guy. It can be a gradual feeling of being overwhelmed, then one day you snap and just CAN NOT face the workshop, or the keyboard. I'm actively hoping it is something like this...can be cured by a rest, and - as you say - the alternatives could be so much worse.

Yes, I know this is not intentional. He showed me pics of the stuff he was working on for me. It just sucks that there is no communication. Hell if I was laid up, I would at least get my wife to post and let people know what's up.
