First timer - Iron man Mk IV

Ok guys and girls...found the best color so far for the faceplate....pretty pleased with how it came out. WARNING....careful of overspray.
Pic for those interested....in SA you get it at builders warehouse for about R140.

That is look great, what did you finally decide to use???

I am currently building a Spartan II Mark IV helmet, and I am using Luxor Ultra Light filler, I do however get these pinhole imperfections that I am not a fan of..... Urrgghhh

Hi there. I take it you're a fellow South African seeing as you're using Luxor. hehe.

The gold I used is in my previous post...Rust-O-Leum

Regarding the pinholes...I bought Luxor's spot putty to fill the imperfections. Used it before spraying on primer for the big imperfections and then used it again for the minor ones after primer. Works like a charm.

True that, based in Jozi, couldn't find the "Bondo" thing the Americans were talking about so I have been experimenting... The Luxor Polyester filler is incredibly heavy and I messed up my first pep build with it, so I switched to Ultra light which I am having much more luck with...

So spot putty??? Mmmm never thought of that, I was going to throw on a coat of resin in the hopes the resin will fill the holes and the once cured prime it.....

Yeah I was thinking the same here with my mk 42 helmet....

Hey can you post a pic of the Luxor spot putty ...and how we'll does it work??

ok guys and gals....finally have an update. Almost finished painting the helmet. Just need to do the lower lip and add some LED's for the eyes.
You will see I have a neck there as well...still debating whether to add that to the piece.

No comments? None?

Put in the LED eyes this weekend, but a few of them are duds...enough to make the lighting a bit off. Have to order off ebay again....sigh

Little update. Bought a small white LED strip that you use in cars, etc. for the lighting of the eyes. All that's left to do is to get some black foam for detailing the jaw "teeth" and a gloss coat. What do you guys think? Criticism welcomed.

Great to see another local builder on the RPF... I've been struggling my *** off trying to find suppliers for a lot of the products that the other members mention, with limited success. I'm busy with my MK6 helmet right now, almost ready for paint, but getting the right colours is a mission. Look forward to seeing more of your work....

Hi Bandiet

Always great seeing local guys with interest in this kind of stuff. Hope my thread has helped you a bit. Busy with a predator bio mask at the moment. Will post when I'm done. hehe
