It's been many years since I built an aircraft model; I'm doing this one for practice before I help my daughter build a Supernatural Impala. The kit is a Testor's (ex Hawk) 1/72 Corsair F4U. According to many reviews -- and my experience -- this is a crap kit, but it will do for practice; no big loss if I screw it up.
To get a fuzzy line between upper and lower colors (with no airbrush), I used a shadow mask instead of tape:
That's a couple pieces of bent card stock, standing about 1/16" off the body.
Results:
Not perfect. Needs a little touch-up, but I think it will do.
The paint scheme is from an alternate reality. As far as I know, no unit flew in these colors . . . but there's no reason they couldn't have. Maybe I can say it's part of a very early Star Wars prequel. Anyone know where I can get a set of Rebel Alliance Starbird decals?
