Fire Spray 31 patrol and attack craft from Oovo IV prison

Re: Slave-1

Thanks guys...:)

Well I have been staring at the front skirt pattern thinking,
I really need to get this thing finished it's the last part. Looking at
it i felt it was way to high and I could probably cut it down....so I
did. Now it will fit on my smaller former as well even better!

I knew it was to short after i put the fenders on the model,
so had to add to it at the back to meet up with the fender.
I used what wood I had to get it to work some dowels
to hold it together, with some glue and left over wood
i used to make the frame work for the vacuum former.

Re: Slave-1

I cut the canopy from the model the other day and I said
to myself I would use it as a tool to make the canopy pattern.

I smoothed it out on the inside and poured some UC-30
in it.

When I removed it I found that some of the corners were
a little chipped off.

I placed some tape inside so it would really show it also acted as a
release so the clay wouldn't stick to the plastic.

I let the clay come over a bit and sanded it off later,
to get a nice sharp edge on the canopy part.

Now I have nice sharp edges.....and
a few pin holes to fill

Re: Slave-1

That's awesome Mike ! You're making it more complex that it is though !
I discovered the hull was done in 2 layers, the inner layer being vacformed from clear plastic (PETG). This way no need to create a buck for the canopy ! I think you should try both way to see what gives the best result ! :)

That's cool too know J-man.... but no way I am going to buy and waste
all that P-TEG and form 2 huge hull halves just for the canopy to show
through. Not to mention then I am dealing with a seam right down the
middle of the canopy that way. I didn't have to make the buck because it came straight
out of the formed fuselage....I just cut it out and filled it with
UC-30 1hr tops.

Re: Slave-1

Well I formed the front skirt and the nose piece...

The front skirt fit perfect.....well at least from this angle it did! LMAO

But does it really.....ERRR yea no! LOL It came up short and
out of shape a bit.

No problem I just clayed it up until it fit perfect then I removed it.
I just have to fill in the underside then I can reform it, hoping for a
better fit this time!

Re: Slave-1

I love the way you say "no problem" and just work through that problem like it s the easiest thing in the world!

LOL!

Well here is the front skirt removed from the fuselage ready
for filling, and second pick it's filled and ready for forming.

Front skirt formed and using the front nose plating
to mark the cut out.

I will have to make some adjustments to the fenders as i go,
eventually you get to the point where you just have to make it
work.
