Fire Spray 31 patrol and attack craft from Oovo IV prison

Re: Slave-1

Totally ace Mike, sorry I missed you this week, just got back from Zurich, home all week though so will try to get hold of ya bud.

Re: Slave-1

I figured with the wells opened up i would start
to work on the rear boarding ramp and the back plate.
But first I decided i wanted to stop taping this thing
together all the time. So I drilled two holes and ran
some small screws and wing nuts to hold it all together.

This is the back plate it"s just in there loosy goosey
in the picture, the angle that the plate rests on down
inside the rear skirt, makes the landing ramp have to
come in further. I ended up a little short I should have waited
to make this. No matter I just made another one.

To short....

This is the new one with the rear plate attached,
I made it so it can be removed and detailed later.

Just to protect the angle of the part I made up
a brace to fit over it on the unseen side.

Done...Still some sanding to do on that rear skirt.....been waiting to build a little
more strength into it.

Done and Just taped in for now.

Re: Slave-1

I will say after fitting the fenders that this thing looks
nothing like the filming miniature...but it does resemble
the FM kit iI have been staring at! LOL If someone offers
you a kit of this model buy it.....you probably would blow
your brains out getting the fenders in, in a build like this!
Even if it looks easy in picture it"s not!!!

I did my best to hold the formed fenders up against the model,
I even tried to tape them. I knew if they flexed while they were on there
it would turn out to be trouble when I went to fit them. Of course even
with trying to be careful there were areas that fit either to tight or a bit
loose. Also important the model has to be resting level when you do it!

The key was to get a few drops of glue in there to hold it in place a bit,
after i had it level. here it was to tight i allowed the sandpaper to folllow
the shape of the fender as a opened up the well.

I am not a computer there was no way I was going to get all those little gaps
to be perfect matching the fender to the skirt and the main body.....this is it
before filling.

Re: Slave-1

Here are some pics with the clay in there....when it's primed
you will be able to visualize the extension more.
