Finished DeAgostini build.

Hi everyone.

Not really much to say about this post other than it's my finished DeAgostini 32" Falcon. My goal was to match the filming model, and in the process make the build seem less 'toy like', so I've left out all the interior play-set parts and corrected the exterior as much as I can. Going so far as to replace some of the DeAgostini parts with parts sourced from the real kits. I've tried to match the painting as closely as I can, but obviously individual paint splatters are going to be different.

Very fine build and excellent detail. DeAgostini is expensive for what it is IMHO, but yours has turned out Awesome....!

Job well done....!!...

Thank you.

Yes, I agree. I don't recall exactly how much I spent on mine. $2000 CAD roughly. Something like that. I wish they'd spent more time making it a true replica than a toy. It's missing greeblies and some are in the wrong place. I'm not sure how they managed to do that.

But with some work, it can be made to look not too bad.

Hello, I'm coming up to the ramp steps in my own build and the motorized kit ramp feels and looks too gimmicky for my tastes. Did you seal yours or does it still function?

I sealed mine up. My ramp doesn't go up and down. The filming model didn't do that, so mine doesn't either. The mechanism is kind of neat though, I may keep it for something else in the future, just not sure what.

Thanks for the quick reply! So no regrets at dropping the interior? I've skipped over all of that for now but need to make the call while I'm waiting for more issues. I agree that the kit interior is too "toylike" but I've found a 3D printable replacement that's light able and I'm trying to decide which way to go.

Nope. No regrets at all. I wish that had been omitted completely in favour of making the exterior more correct. I wanted an exact replica (or as close to an exact replica as I could get) of the filming model. I still have my old Kenner Falcon that I received for Christmas back in the 1980s, so I have a playset if I'd wanted one.

The exterior is pretty good, but I did find things that were not quite right that I corrected myself. I suspect those issues slipped through the cracks because time was being spent on the interior.
