I thought PSS had shut their website down? On a different topic, AJ you posted a pic a while back of you and some friends dressed up. Your mate was wearing a black long sleeve project mayhem t shirt. Do you know wear he got it?

Not sure on if PSS shut their site down but if their replicas are floating around how could you tell it is a PSS replica?

I got those replicas and I like them a lot. The real ones look much darker, do they allow you to see green lights?

Which replicas?? The ones from sunglasshack? Yes the real op 523 you can see green ... Barely.

AJ, these are PSS. As you can see, they are practically identical to authentic op-523 and are very very close to gothic rose. The only difference I can tell, is that op-523 gothic rose are more rose color/burgandy/crimson/blood, then actual red. They are almost like if you take the blood red color and lighten the tint. From what I see, PSS are more accurate in shape/design to the op-523 then Sunglass shack.

I think it is ok because this thread has sort of evolved into a Tyler Durden costume thread the moderator even moved it to costumes.

Ok so are PSS lens color the same as the sunglass shack lens color? That is ultimately what I am trying to get at. Reason being I want to take all the lens straight to Rudy at Oliver Peoples and compare and sit down and have him make a lens for me.

The lens does not have a color name I am afraid. When I contacted Rudy at Oliver Peoples Malibu I told him I wanted the Aeros exactly like the movie and in that red tint color and I showed him a picture of Aeros in red that I had found. The guy does all the sunglasses for the movies I have like 7 different pairs of OP sunglasses from him all in custom lens.

I could post them all if its not too off topic I have some very nice colors like blues, yellows, greens, etc.

Here are the OP523s I have:

The red lens and matte finish frames are replicas (not paperstreets) The frame on these are slightly different (wider) than real OPs.

The smoke lens with shiny frames are paperstreet replicas I believe. No markings on them.

The tangerine lens are legit OP-523 - 2000 edition

As for the correct Aero 54 lens color . . . Judge for yourself. Which do you think looks the closest? I've done my best to lighten these images up, but keep in mind this scene like most of FC was filtered very dark. I think it was Norton who mentioned on the commentary track for this scene how he thought Fincher went too dark because Pitt's blonde hair looked almost black.

I think the frames are definitely silver at least.

nice.. I thought for a while that gothic rose was just something made up by someone, and that op had the lenses custom mad for the film, but seeing how the gothic rose color seems to be popping up alot, I guess they were a color that was released back then. Why in the world OP couldn't make their later re-releases in the gothic rose color is beyond me.

I tried looking through google images for any pictures of my 2001 OP-523 with coral lenses but no dice. I thought maybe there would be a few images floating around in cyber space.

I've been wondering where everyone is getting their unworn, new with tags OP-523, and OP-sunset frames. I think somewhere, they are still being manufactured, because I find it hard to believe that there are so many floating around out there from 20yrs ago, that are unworn and with tags. I know that Japanese retailers were still selling them very recently and thats when ebay stated to become flooded with all these op-523 with tangerine lenses. I'm just wondering where everyone is getting them from.. If anyone has a clue, drop me a pm. I'd really appreciate it.

I have the feeling people are lying about the new with tags. I know Oliver Peoples sold out around 2011 or beginning of 2012 of the silver with blood red lens 523. There were still a few gold with brown lens 523 left as of last year.

A lot of japan retailers still had the 523 with orange lens so it is possible people bought a bunch and had the lens replaced with a blood red lens. I know these ones were still being sold in 2013.

The sunsets are most likely a lie being new. They may have been in very like new condition but I have even contacted people at Oliver peoples that have worked there for nearly 20 years and sunsets arent even in their system anymore. I suppose if PSS could make a replica 523 it might have been worthwhile to make a counterfeit sunset and sell it for 1000 dollars to unsuspecting consumers.

When I go to Oliver Peoples in about a week and a half I am having a sit down with a guy that made a lot of the lens for the movies and he has worked at OP for over 20 years. I will ask about brad pitt lens color, gothic rose color and if it had variations, and I will try finding out about the sunsets. I will also ask what he knows about 523s in Japan.

You mean the exact shirt? No it was probably made for the movie. Similar shirts? Yes many have been done for a while Fox Racing was selling a woman's shirt that was pretty similar to the blue motocross shirt found in Fight Club. I have several versions of the Fight Club motocross shirt that I created myself they are not exact replicas just done in the similar style. Soul is creating an exact replica as for the progress on that you have to ask him.

On a different note, anyone have an android or iphone? Reason I ask is I am such a big Fight Club fan I collect all sorts of Fight Club related things. I saw on Redbubble they have cases with different styles of Fight Club logos, images, etc. I found one that looks like a soap that looks pretty sweet I am just wondering if anyone has ordered things like this before and are the images in a high resolution quality? I linked the case I was looking at.
