Ok guys here was the two leather samples I had narrowed it down to. If you go back a couple of pages you can see the jacket. I asked Jonathan which one he recommended and went with that. The one I didn't pick was a thinner more glossy one. Well here was both samples:

This other one was the one I liked but ended up not choosing. It was too thin.

My Mayhem jacket should be done sometime soon – we finalized the cut the other day so he's working on it now. I'm very psyched!

He does make them himself and I own two jackets from him as I posted pics about two pages ago of them. And yea you can get custom leather samples. In fact, when I made my second one I had it down to two leathers one of which looked glossy and the other. I asked his opinion which one was better and the glossy one was a thinner leather and he recommended going with the other red. He explained to me why (that was about 2 years ago so the conversation is hazy) but basically it was a very light leather makes the jacket not sit very well and to create the look he would have to add a lining inside he jacket to make it a little thicker.

Btw I am visiting him in a couplw weeks sometime in March. If anyone has a question or a pic they want.

I would like to see the FC Jacket but don't wanna waste the guys time because $700 is out of my price range now.
Does Jonathan offer a Non customized JAL FC Jacket cheaper? Does Jonathan offer a payment plan? Or all cash upfront?

Personally, I think the first one there looks the best. Matter of taste, I guess.

But I just wanted to add that JAL can use another leather if you want. You can get leather samples from him and choose. It depends what you are looking for in the jacket. If you wear it around, a light leather might flap in the wind and might not be what you want, but on the other hand, it might be exactly what you want – just depends. I've seen at least a couple people around the net that own at least 2 JAL jackets in different leathers for different occasions.

Also, he will custom tailor it for you and the jackets are made in his studio in LA – so no, they're not made out of the country. I'm not positive if he's the one MAKING the jackets, (he may have a team, I'm not sure, maybe somebody here knows) but he certainly will be the one designing your jacket and he will make you a fabric sample before you commit so you can make sure the sizing is absolutely what you want. With any other brand, you will most likely be buying a stock cut. But I know that he's the most expensive too. But, it IS the real deal.

SoulRevolver would be my second choice. But even then, it's not a custom cut – theirs is nice, though. I would be willing to bet that the first link, SoulRebel, are using the SoulRevolver design.

Are you wearing it around, as in, everyday use?

It does look like the first jacket lifted from SR design cause of the collar. The color looks bad though, not red enough.

The JAL is the best and thats cool he customizes it. I would want it for everyday wear, comfortable and light weight. Not thick.
Brad Pitt's looked so lightweight and glossy.


Theirs a seller on ebay with JAL photos up but they are from india. Thats why I was curious if he has them made outside the US.

I already have two JALS. That pic I posted was of the samples when I made the one that is more red. I posted both pics. I have the default JAL he makes and I have the more red one. When I made the more red one I narrowed it down to the two samples i posted above.

See these are both jals. The darker one is the default he makes. The other is the one I had him make from the samples he provided.

I have thought about doing one in the thinner glossy leather which is also fairly red. But I believe JAL told me he had to line the inside with a filler because it was too thin. When I see him I will talk about the possibility.

When I went there he talked to me for a bit (He is pretty nice) and I looked around his shop. He did some measurements on me and had me try on some things to get an idea of fit.

The collar looks way to high.
The chest stitching looks to high.
The stitching in the cuffs are to high.

Did he take liberties recreating the Jacket?
No FC Jacket has won me over to make a purchase.

Yeah they're the same brand and have the same 3 hooks/silver speed laces. There are a few differences of course.

Little bit of history. Years ago on the film jacket forum we debated about how the Fight Club jacket was built. People analyzed the stitching and color to the buttons etc. A guy named X-Mart (i believe he posted in this thread too at the beginning) claimed to have one of the original Fight Club jackets from
the movie which he bought for like 50 k or something.

He was also the guy to discover JAL because when he bought it he found he was the original creator. The funny thing is that photo you posted is of his jacket. Not sure if he is wearing JALs in that photo or if that is the original Fight Club jacket from the movie.
