Edit: On the point of raising shoes… I'm sure you all have noticed that the Lakestreams give a good inch or so in height. Nice little bonus.

To jump onto a different topic, I would like to bring up the subject of how many different FC 1 jackets there are and how Logan's new designs appear to be cut different and made in different leather. The original FC jacket made by logan seen here was made in a looser, softer LAMB skin leather with a way different collar style more similar to Brad's jacket in the film.

Just look at the softness and looseness in the shoulder area. It even looks like it was cut wider at the shoulders. Compare to Pitt's.



Now, Logan has listed his jacket in an Italian Calf Skin, when I am almost 100% sure he had orignally listed it in a Lamb skin.

Look at the difference. It doesnt even hang the same way.. And now the collars are just way off. On soulrevolvers and the new JAL's.. The collars are just way too long when they should just be pulled out to the sides, not actually cut to be that long. Vintage leather jackets were always cut with sharp pointy and square designs. Sharp.. Never round like this



Now,

This is supposedly the authentic vintage jacket that Logan used as the prototype for the design. Could be or maybe not.. No one is 100% sure.. We all know it wasnt used in the movie because its way to big.


For the new Logan FC jackets to look like they looked on Pitt, you distress the hell out of them or maybe if the leather is not the same, then it's impossible to get the same look

and last thing and I'll leave this alone. 100%, Brad Pitt's jacket had shoulder pads inside. 100%. Either to give him some more manly-er size and presence or simply to make the jacket look better. SHOULDER PADS IS THE KEY TO THE LOOK

Ok guys I just did a crash course in shoes and I have some interesting information to share regarding height and Brad Pitt and how his shoes could of worked and why they had selected certain footwear, etc.

One big misconception behind shoes is that a heel adds straight height. IE lets say if a girl wore 3 inch heels she would be 3 inches taller. This is incorrect. As the ankle extends up (Which a heel forces you to do) you actually lose height while at the same time gaining. Meaning a 3 inch heel may give you only 2 inches of actual height.

So lets say Brad Pitts Gucci's had a 2 inch heel on them, that doesn't mean it gave 2 inches of height.

What is important in determining shoe height is the combination of *platform* height and heel height. The more platform height you get the less your ankle extends up which means the more benefit you get from the heel. (people with smaller feet also lose more height from the ankle extension then someone with bigger feet too) -- What I noticed that is interesting about Hodgman's is that they have a 1 inch platform height. This right here adds a solid inch not including the 1.75-2 inch heel. So it probably adds around 1.25-1.5 inches of height.

I personally found all this interesting as I wondering why I felt like Hodgman's added more height then the boots I had.

Danman, have you tried "Brasso" . It's a brass polish and works really well for bringing back the shine on brass ... Used it all the time at the bar I worked at.

I noticed that, I commented on this forum about the cut of the JAL Jacket that it looks to tight on people and tappers in like a womens jacket like he changed the look. Pits Jacket has a boxed front look.
: / people look like Stiffs wearing a JAL, like the jacket is wearing them. You see Pitt wearing the jacket and its a thin leather that flows and he has a lot of movement in the jacket. The collar on the JAL is raised to high to.

I looked at a lot of photos of people who own the JAL Jacket and the Leather looks way to thick. The bottom of the collar doesn't even stay down it flips up cause of it.

Is it cheaper leather for JAL to use, is that why he uses that hide now? Who knows..

I want a JAL but man I never saw one on someone that looked like it was the same as the film. The color looks to dark too.
If I meet this guy I have a lot of things I'd change about how I'd want mine made. I'd show him Gifs of the film to get my point across. I'd say I don't care I want it like how I've seen it for 15 years in the film.

I got mine from leatherjacketshowroom, they're a little sketchy, but I got lucky and mine fit perfectly w/out having to deal with trying to send it back. $100 was their "sale" price that they gave me. Color is spot on for the Tyler jacket, but completely off for this Mayhem jacket. You really get what you pay for though, so I'm saving up for Soul Revolver next. As door says, JALs do look too thick.

Heres what I spotted

The JAL looks off compared to the original.
The Leather is way to thick in that version.
The collar looks way to high.
The chest stitching looks to high.
The stitching in the cuffs are to high.

Did he take liberties recreating the Jacket?
No FC Jacket has won me over to make a purchase.

To me, this older JAL leather is a way more screen accurate leather then the stiff one you see on the page now

Just emailed JAL about this. Really interested to know about it. I just have always loved this jacket for the looseness and thin leather that hangs so cool and vintage looking. What I've seen now is just way too thick. And I know exactly what Door is talking about wearing the jacket instead of lettingit wear you. Even though Pitt is notorious for wearing whatever they throw on him and not letting it wear him, the new jackets are definitely without a doubt to thick to just relax and lounge around in. Theyre made like Biker jackets. Thick and heavy.. The search for the perfect FC jacket continues. I have yet to see on that looks screen accurate as far as the leather goes.
