Fennec Shand Reconnaissance Drone

think I can see it in the shot before it turned on.
Let me grab 4K version of this episode and take a closer look
It is clearly visible in a shot when the drone is approaching the jabba's palace while the door is closing. It is necessary to increase the luminosity to see it.

Hm. The screenshots I have above are from that shot. And the brightness of LEDs completely blocks the surrounding area. I think there are good shots while it's still in the stock. Will do more research after work.

Rich D.
How about that? (I will adjust the distance from each other etc after work. I had to redo some things, since prev. was using a curved slot design. the ends were semi-circles. I had to redo all that and make them rect with filleting after that (so now I can control the R of the corners.

I couldn't wait.
I agree on everything.
1) Recess is needed around LEDs
2) It needs to be bigger.
3) "eyes" are black.

Why did I think coming here was a good idea ‍♂️ ? =)
(That was a joke - I am glad. Now I sleep well knowing my design is accused)

While we are on it, I think their polar detail/"button" is more elongated like a pill and not just semi dome like I have.

soswow this is looking great. Maybe each rectangle element should be slightly shorter, which would make the spacing between each element bigger. It's almost like 50% impression, 50% spacing:

yeap. Thank you. That's what I meant by "I will adjust the distance from each other etc after work. ". Will play with those distances later today.

3D printed some faux LEDs and a stand for it.

It was fun to put together. I have a strange urge to hit it with a ping pong paddle for some reason.

I look forward to any updates.

On the subject of the crypts being narrower: I think the drone isn't actually a sphere. In the screen caps it looks like there's a Death Star I model situation, where it's a bit squished top to bottom.

Rich, I agree with you

A hole for a blue led on top would be also perfect for rendering hologram....

in my industry, this is called scope creep =) But I will look into that.

It's done. It's 20% bigger, slots are slimmer, recess for less, a bit bigger nobs on poles. I've updated cults3d files.

What I haven't thought about is LED hole size. It has been increased as well and is now not perfect for 3mm LEDs =\
I also included 2 STLs with LED mockups modelled in and joined with main domes.

Great design so far. My only critique is that there is more negative space on the sides of the U shape. (The U needs to be a bit smaller)
Any chance for a solid model? (STEP or IGES)

Thanks Mara Jade's Father for your pics
The quality of the print seems better with the larger one

Part of that is because I used the wrong file on my first attempt (printed on an angle which gave it that weird pattern) which is why I still had it available for photos. The print of the smaller version I reprinted came out much better. But I think you also have to factor in that printing something larger will also help show details better. I printed both versions using a .08 layer height with a reduced speed of 30 mm/s.

Yes. You're right. I've made a change (I haven't even have a coffee yet, ha ha)

And yes, I also added STEP file, Though I would ask you to, please suggest changes I make in my file before you attempt to correct them yourself.
It is more accurate now ! You are such a talented 3d modeler ! (y)
Thanks for sharing this beautiful work
oh! Thank you!

Mara Jade's Father lol, mate ha ha. I went to sleep and woke up with someone already printed what I did. That is awesome. You should buy yourself a resin printer. I recommend Elegoo Mars 3. They are dirt cheap these days. You will be so much happier =)
