female pred-costume in progress

more updates... added a few more detailes and teeth! i made the teeth in a cheap and easy way, using a gluegun! They are not yet painted...!
i could order Fast cast - Axson F-18 (plastic) to make the teeth, but that takes days, to get it by mail* (y) i want it ready now! hehe

How in the world did I miss this thread???

I am digging the shape you have going on that head. Looks reeeeally good... especially the brow. Are you planning to leave the Bio with that subtle form to it?

wow, thank you! :p u made my day

no, i was actually thinking about making a new one, using other materials. because when i put it onto the mask it doesnt quite fit the way i want it to. and it was also very hard work, to carve detailes into it. and things always seem to be better the second try.
im also new to this, so still trying to think of ways to do this, the mask, bio and all.

i wanted backer rod for the dreads, but i cant find it anywhere... except from ebay and such, but i cant wait for that!!! hehe i just wanna get everything done NOW!

earlier today i went to a mattress store where they cut out soft foam for mattresses and pillows etc. and i asked the guy if i could get some small pieces a little cheaper. turned out i got plenty of it for free, since they were gonna toss it away anyway, and it saved him a trip if i took it :p so i grabbed all i could get and went home! i was even welcomed back there, to take more of it, off his hands! AWESOME

so i decided to try and carve some dreads of out this material! and so far it doesn't look too bad
i covered one with latex and painted it... waiting for it to dry....! "Dry faster!!!!" LOL

so if that turnes out ok, im just gonna go for this. i mean, it was free!!! all it takes a little work as everything else

yeah that guy was awesome. and that foam is super for building up costumes, so im really happy right now

i kinda know what the design is gonna be, but im not yet sure how to make it. what about you?

now i have 15 (foam) dreads, and its still looking good ^^ had to take a break from that a little while ( i easily get bored) - so i started on my next project: HANDS!

i tried to cast my own hand in plaster so i had something to sculpt on.... but the plaster failed me 2 times!!! im not ever gonna buy that brand of plaster again!

i figured the fastest way, would be to make a flat-mold of a pred-hand, and then later attach it to a glove.

hah! done!!! (with one hand at least)
but it need trimming, glue down some of the edges and paint it ofcourse!

"easy version of a predator hand, wich i can take off and on as i want" - but after halloween, when im not in a hurry, i will make the whole costume over again (except the mask), and make it as good as i can

heres some pics of the process
(the blue stuff is alginate, "hand" is made of silicone) and now: back to make the dreads!!!

I JUST ADDED A "HOW I DID IT" THING ON MY PAGE IF U WANNA CHECK IT OUT

So whats that blue mold stuff called? prob a dumb question... lol Howd you attach it to the glove? looks good though!

thanks!

thats called alginate. its used for face-casts and such. it was the only thing i had laying around. but its cheap. you can find it at www.monstermakers.com (U.S) or www.mouldlife.co.uk
doesnt last that long tho, because it shrinks.... but if ur lucky you could get more samples out of it. alginate is good for capturing detailes.
i didnt wanna waste silicone on a mold that im only gonna use once, so alginate worked just fine

then...i poured silicone into the alginate-mold, silicone is super sticky, so i just put the glove ontop. the silicone sticks right to it and works as glue. took it 30 minutes to set.

theres no stupid questions btw :p 1 year ago, i didnt know about this stuff either!

thats amaszing,,, i love the hands, thats one thing i stii got to do for my daughters suit, thanks for sharing and keep the great work....
