Farscape Props

I found some of the die today, but it listed Rubber as one of the materials it wasn't recommended for, so I don't know it it would work on the knife.

Also, I got my Mask and Goggles for my D'Argo "'Til the Blood runs clear", mask too day. I asked the seller, before I ordered, if the one he had listed for around $25. had both the mask, and goggles, he said yes, and that's what I got, so you can order them together. :)

The mask it hard clear plastic. (probably Polycarbine) The parts of the goggles, that holds the lens, is very soft rubber, and if you want to, it's not hard to remove the lens. So, I think with some sanding the mask could be easily painted. Since the lens can come out, you may be able to apply one of those tenting kits, for care windows. The elastic band could probably be dyed, or just replaced with black elastic. However, I have no idea how to color, the soft rubber parts. Anything I can't think of (like paint) is going to come right back off of the rubber. :(

Check out this thread on GBfans: http://www.gbfans.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=7554

It's all about painting rubber welding goggles to match the ecto goggles in Ghostbusters. There are a couple good ideas for painting rubber in the thread.

Personally I'd probably use plastidip on the rubber parts of the D'argo mask.

should be getting my pk knife on Monday, Ill let you know how it is once it shows. Congrats on the dargo mask, i really gotta get one of those, any pics you can post of it as is would be cool :)

I've been on kind of a Farscape role lately, so I'll post some pics of the pojects I have going in a day, or two. :)(I have a long way to go on most of them, but I'll post where I am on them. )

I'm so glas this thread is still going, if anyone has any oictures of some PK jackets or dusters or pulse rifles that would be great, I want to start a pulse rifle project but its alot of work so i've been putting it off

ive got a few shots of thr jacket i had years ago, and some recent ones from auctions that sold, including closeups of the stitching. Ill try getting them up tonight.

These guys own actual PK costumes from the set and recreate them with the same materials: http://www.pendragoncostumes.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PLST&Store_Code=custom

They're pricey but it'd be tough to get more accurate. They were actually banned from selling at the Burbank Farscape con as they were too accurate and considered a conflict of interest. They show up at US conventions a lot, I've seen them at Wizard World East and Dragoncon.

I'll post my pulse rifle screencaps in my photobucket tonight. Eventually I'll have all my screencaps up, I'm just lazy. :angel

Thanks you guys! and yes, i've tried on pendragons costumes at cons, there absolutely incredible, top notch, but never had enough cash for one

Same here on the pulse Rifle, but you should take a look at Birdies Tutorial over at Carlsweb. It inspired me, and after just getting done watching season 4 (again, for the first time since it originally aired.) I'm felling very confident, that it is doable. The barrel, and most of the main body, and stock, look pretty simple (but big) The handle, and figure, look a little tougher to me.

I believe jackdoud has some very good pics of a someone in a PK uniform, with a very nice Pulse rifle. (but I don't want to speak for him. :) )

I haven't been able to get started on mine yet, but it's on my short list. (well the top portion of my very, very, long list of props I'm working on. )

The pics jason1976 is talking about is probably these from ebay:

A seller by the name of Miamiscifi has had that actual show costume on ebay for a few years now at crazy inflated prices.

Here are my shots of the various pulse rifles:

There were 10 different peacekeeper rifles seen in the series, 7 are variations on the standard base, one is a one-off when they needed "historical" versions and two are a snub style, one being a conversion of the original for a later episode. The only one that's named is Aeryn's "Marauder" varient, the rest I just made up descriptive titles for. :angel There's also the limited edition creation entertainment version which is technically a varient as it was used in PK Wars.

I've yet to nail down the correct flashlight, it seems that a couple different ones were used with one possibly being a maglight though it's not the most common.

There's been rampant speculation over the years that the base gun is some version of Styer SMG though I've yet to find anything that works. The early design sketches show that it was definitely based on the Styer look but went in a different direction. I don't believe any were ever built off a Styer body.

Pedragon does good work, but there are major inaccuracies with their stuff. I am also curious as to where you heard they were banned?? They were at Burbank last year (where I got my PK Commando Jacket from) although they were not at LA this year.

ive been so tempted a few times to make one of those concept style pulse pistols, lve the magazine part...

Talking with one of the guys at their booth at WWE over the summer.

There can be problems with their stuff, I've noticed they don't always use the correct buckles.

The base gun mentioned is a Steyr Aug, and the Pulse rifle was categoroically NOT built off one. There are definite design similarities, and the Farscape propguys may very well have been inspired by it, but that's as far as it goes.

I sbelieve the common PR scope is custom too, I've never found any evidence to support that it was a found flaslight.

Obviously, the early scopes were made from plumbing parts, disappearing, iirc, towards the end of season one.

Pretty sure the scope on the maurader was a large Maglite.

Also, I think the names laser knife & maurauder were never actually mentioned in the show, but were coined from the design lithographs given away with the deluxe UK boxset.

I know it wasn't screen accurate (until PK wars) but I like the creations version. Some of them got a little crazy with the scopes, scope mounts, add-ons, etc, I like the simple look of the creations version. However I would never be able to afford one, so I'm just going to have to make my own, and I'm sure mine will no where close to accurate, and wall it may end up sucking by RPF standers, I'm sure it will impress the Con goers. (It will be a little like those wood ducks in that Firefly episode, you know, It will look like it was made by someone with a longing to see a pulse rifle, but had never actually seen one. :lol)

I may actually just base mine off the one that came with the toy Aeryn. It's fare from screen accurate, but it's nice and simple, and clean enough, that I might be able to scan it in to the old PC, scale it up, and brake it down, in Photoshop, into Templates. (just a thought right now.) Mine will probably been made of wood, Styrene, pluming parts, bondo, and maybe some sculpy. (I have yet to cast anything, and I don't have the budget to cast anything this hug.)

Darn, Darn, Darn. I'm far from having the money, but I really want John's Duster, and I was hoping to order from them. :( (Well actually I was hoping to find a cheaper option, but so far none have come along. :( )

To be honest, on my past costumes, I did all the research, design, and pattern making, and my Mom, has cut them out, and sowed them up for me. but, I haven't been able to get here to do anything for me for over a year and a half, AND she said this duster was WAY beyond what she, and here sowing machine could do. :(

Oh, well I have until at lest May, before I would need it. So, maybe something will come along.

Does anyone know the dominations of the PR. (I'm mainly looking for the width, of the main body/stock so I can start figuring out what thickness of would to use for the base.)

Also, Does anyone know the size of the LED's on the Pulse pistols, and how many there are? I know there is, one red one, in the indentation just behind the sight/scope-thingy, on the right side. (I don't think there is one in the same indentation on the left side) I know there are 4 red ones, right of center, along the back side of the pistol. And, I know there is one red one, in the end of the sight/scope-thingy. But i can't tell what of them are 5mm, or if any of them are 3mm, or some other size. Sone any help would be great. :)

Pendragon's Aeryn PK duster is SO amazing though, I get chills every time I try it on haha. I just wish they'd make her S2 duster like from Liars Guns and Money. I talked to them at a local con here about a year ago about doing my Chiana and she just didn't have time to do custom work of that magnitude.

Their stuff is really amazing though, a friend of mine used to work for them and his Crichton is just to die for, and another buddy of mine got a Crais PK coat which was basically a Crichton duster with a collar. The buckles on all looked fine to me! If anyone wants pics of the Crichton duster by pendragon, I can post pics of the 2 different coats.

By the way, I heard something about them not doing Burbank 'Scape con again? I finally wanted to save up the money to go, I'm gonna be seriously upset if they're not doing that again.... :-(
