Farscape Props

Don't get me wrong, I loved their stuff enough to buy myself the Commando Jacket and my wife Aeryn's Duster ... I recently got my hands on the original Aeryn duster though, and will be tackling recreating it in the near future. It is really altogether a different jacket from the Pendragon one.

Their Crichton Duster, looks really good on their site. (the pics they have up have the wrong buckles, but they show that they use the right ones now.) On the other hand, I have not seen then in the person, and There firefly brown coat, is WAY off. (in the pics they have up anyway's. So, I don't know.

Does anyone know what their real turnaround time is? (i.e. it may say one their site, but i would like to hear from someone who has actually ordered from them, how long it takes to get your stuff.)

Hi guys.

I think its fantastic that this thread is hear and still active so long after Farscape was cancelled. Its good to see people still interested in it.

Anyway a few years back at the Farscape Burbank con I got toalking to the person who bought John's actuall costume and she very graciously allowed me to take lots of nice detailed photographs of the duster, vest, trousers and Aeryn's season 2/3 duster.

I had a few of Pendragon's bits for quite a while but always wanted something with a lot more accuracy and these photographs were invaluable in making that happen. Pendragon's stuff is very good, but as has already been said there are a lot of inaccuracies with them.

I'll post a couple here but the rest can be found here http://s135.photobucket.com/albums/q136/scape_coats/

I hope this help people. Once I get round to it I'll post some pictures of my small Farscape collection.

got my PK Knife today, there is no wording on the flat of the blade like the screenshot, but the holster is very cool and overall its a pretty big knife.

The blue parts are hard plastic so they should dye black easily enough, and the gray parts and gray straps are really gray, so hopefully rit dfye will work on those as well, otherwise ill try black bumper spray. Ill get some pics tonight.

Ok, first up the Mask.

When I said that the part that goes around the lens, is soft rubber, I mean it. :)

there is some text printed into the lend, on on side, but I don't think it will be a problem when, and if, I use a care window tenting kit.

There is also some text printed into the top, of the rubber part, and some on the front of the part that goes up against your forehead.

I will say this, it is very comfortable. (IMO) I'm tempted ot get another set, just to use, when working on projects. The goggles are very, very, well ventilated, I thought with all that rubber up against your skin, it would be very hot, but I had it on for a wile, and I staid cool, and comfortable. :)

No for some other stuff I've recently acquired, or am working on.

I got this for to make a head set.

I'm working on converting this in to a vid chip reader.

I need to add the decals, but I got this recently.

I also picked up this licensed rubber vid chip.

I got My PK knife today, but I don't have pics yet, and I have a super soaker SC 400 on it's way to me now. :)

I'm also working on a few other projects that I'm not ready to post pics of yet (like my DRD), but here are a few pics of some (but not all :) ) of the rest of my scaper collection. :)

I know this isn't quite accurate, but when I saw it at a thrift store, for a couple of dollars, a few years ago, I just couldn't resist.

And thought I have a lot of the figures in the package, I just had to get these loose ones just for the fun of it. :)

Cant wait to see the vid chip reader when its done, and very cool neural spikes!!! I'd love to see someone make a small run of machines one's!!!

I wish I could recall the name of the member that did the spikes for me, I do know he was a member here. I've had them for years now. I just put it out there in the Junkyard that I was looking for someone to do them, and he contact me. If I recall, it was only $75. shipped for both of them, and not only did he machine them for me, but he was nice enough to accommodate my request that the spikes be able to unscrew from their handles. ;) I thought that would be cool, so if I wanted to make it look like either of them are coming out of the back of someones neck, I could do that. :lol

He said he could do one for me with a spring inside, so that it would retract when I acted like I was stabling someone, but I never order one of those.

The cooling rods for the show where just glow sticks with the lanyard loop cut off, but just for fun, i drilled out the hole in the bottom, took out the glow stuff, and filled them with blacklight paint, so they now glow under blacklights. :)

As for the reader, it may be a wile, I really can't paint, untill the spring, so I'm just trying to work on getting as many projects up to that point, as I can, so when the spring does come, I'll just have to apint them all, and then it will be Prop-a-poluza. :)

duuuude, the RIT dye is working perfect on this knife and the straps, dying it all black AND the blue hard plastic parts black...

you should definetly make a mold of that rubber pk chip

Um, "Scifimolds" (or whatever the name of that seller in the UK, that has been said to do recasts) Already did one. (kind of) I bout the Grenade from him (awful kit, more air bubbles, then resin. :( ) and he through in one of his resin casts of that chip. It is really bad, thought, because he tried to cast rubber, in silicone, the silicone expand and caused the chip to warp, so the castings are wonky. I bout this one, because I though it was a fun little item, and it was a licensed item. (and there just aren't enough of those for Farscape.) but it's just a hair over sides (maybe by about .0625" or so.) And it doesn't really show in the pics, but all the colored bits, are raised quite a bit. (it's 3D oo.)

I am however working on some styrene vid chips. (I would prefer they were metal, but I thought styrene would be easier to work with. ) To go with my vid chip reader.

Interesting. Did you just fallow the directions on the packaging, or did you use some other king of trick, or special line of RIT? (I've just never heard of using dye on non fabric items, but it sound really cool. :) ) Also what about the blade, did you have to cover it with something, or does the dye just not stick to it?

I got mine today too, but mine sounds a little different then yours. Mine wiggles a lot in the scabbard, and comes loose of it, very easily, and it the scabbard has a very large oval shaped mark on the frunt. (It may be there, but I don't see it on the one in the show.) My blade does have some markings on it though. There must be a few different makes of these.

i just boiled water and poured half the bag in there and dropped the parts in. Warning though, the hot water will casue the knife to loosen up, when the blade got hot, it actually somwwhat deformed the pushbutton, so i suggest disassembling it all first, by prying off the button pins, and then opull out the spring button, then the blade will slide out.

You can dye the blade with the rest, its stainless, wont change color at all. Ill post results shortly...i ended up gluing the blade and hilt piece to keep them in tight.

Now those are damned Sweet!! very nicely done!!!

Did you post the link wo where you bought the knife?

And since the blade does come out (when you disassemble it, anyone thinking about casting the blade to make the knife con-safe?

This looks pretty close for the sheath...and the knife with some grinding....

I went with this version of the knife, only with blue, instead of yellow. I though it would be better to go with this because of the black button. (I though if I painted the button, it would scuff off, when i put it in, and out of the scabbard.)

Well, as I stated a few post ago, there is a hug flaw in the scabbard, and the knife fight it quite badly.

Today, I sanded off the flaws in the scabbard, and removed the black button from the knife for dying.

I didn't want to use my range top to dy the knife, so I went with the "Sink" approach, as described in the packaging for the RIT die.

I don't know if it was the approach I used, or if it was the type of plastic the insert are made of, but The die didn't do a thing. If The blue parts in the handle, are still blue. I'm probably going to have to use bumper paint on mine, but I do recommend that if any one else is doing one of these, that you go with the version Kylash used, and do it the y way he did.

On a side not, I through the goggles to the D'Argo mask, minus the lens, in to the dye bath.. Oddly enough it did not change a thing on the elastic band, or the hard plastic parts that hold the band at the temples. However if did tent the blue softer rubber part black. :) It's still kind of translucent, and I didn 't bother sanding off the logos and stuff. (I don't know if I will end up doing that or not.) But it looks like of cool. because it's dark enough, and there are enough layers that it looks quite dark from the out side, when you have it on, but you can still kind of see out, those parts. :) (and you can still ball it up, in one hand, and non of the color comes off. ;) ) I don't know if this will be my final solution for coloring these parts, but I just thought I would give it a try. If I do go this rout, I will have to paint the temple parts, and maybe replace the elastic band, with a black one, but non of that would be hard.

did you get the water boiling and let the knife sit in there fore a good while?
