Farscape Props

Thanks for the pics, since I just bought the resin comms from ya! :lol

Um, sorry, but you didn't get one from me. I had 6 of pilot's comm, and I still have 5. (I gave the other one to my girlfriend.) I also have some little ones Kylash gave me. (and I still have all of those except for the onese I gave my girl.)

I also have one of the licensed ones from England. :lol

And Pilot, I love your comms. I would like to buy, or make something a little more accurate, but I will always love yours. The are cool, they are fan made, and they were free. All things I love about them. :) and I always like to see how folks choose to paint them. :) They are a great, fun little prop. :) I have painted, and repainted mine a number of times. (did a few custom paint scheems too. :) ) It was a very nice thing for you to do for the comunity.

My bad. I had just bought some stuff from your E-bay auction and got it mixed up. So many sellers, too little money. :lol

Well, updates. (not to hijack the thread, and make it all about me or anything. :lol)

The L,G,M Guards gun.
Well, I spoke with the gun that owns one of the screen used ones. He was hugely helpful. :) A really great guy, and very, very, helpful. He sent me a dozen or so pics. (I would post them, but since they're his pics, He may not want them spread around, but I'll answer any questions I can. :)) And he gave me measurements for the add on parts, like the stock, fine on top, and the bottle. (with is a hairspray bottle by the way.) the add on parts are aluminum, and a bit thinker then I though. This has left me with a dilemma. I could (and probably should) have the parts machined, with would cost a lot of money, take a lot of time, and would ultimately, be installed on a CHEEP WATER GUN, that will set my apartment most of the time, and not be seen by anyone but me. (oh, wall cool looking, it was a prop seen briefly, carried by superfluous characters, most of the time.) Or, I could just get some sheet styrene, and make the parts out of plastic myself, for under $20.

If you couldn't tell, I'm leaning towards the plastic. That said, aluminum would be really cool. :)

Aeryn's knife from "look at the princes".
Just need to glue some things down, and I should be about done.

Headset.
Other then buying the bit of jewelry that goes buy the mouth, I got nothing done on that yet.

Comms
Bout the aluminum, and that's about it. (though I did find another pic from propstore, that clearly shows the brick pattern screen.)

Pulse riffle.
I got nothing at all done on this, other then working on templates, on the PC.

Pulse pistols.
I have made some real headway ho two pulse pistols for my girlfriend and I. However, I still have a ways to go on them, and the Scorpy pistol I'm working one.

Vid chips, and readers.
Nothing new there, though I am working on the template for the grip frame today.

Recorder.
I hope to add the decals today.

DRD.
Still a little ways to go, but I have a new idea of how to address one of the problems I'm having, so I'm excited about the project again.

XP-70 supper soaker conversion.
Haven't touched it yet.

John's leather costume. (vest, duster, leather pants get-up.)
Haven't got to work on mine yet, BUT I did accidentally find out who currently owns the really costume, and that SHE makes replicas. ;) So, if you have more money then you know what to do with, and you really want the most accurate version out there, drop me a PM. (she offers the gear, in leather, or vinyl, if you want to save a little bit.)

Season 3-4 Holsters. (for my girlfriend and I)
working on templates.

D'Argo's mask from "TTBRC."
Dyed the rubber around the eye piece back. (took it off first, and it shrunk a bit, but it still works ok.) Bout some black elastic for the band. (tried dyeing the orin the original but it just wouldn't take, so after 3 tries I moved on.) I just need to pick up some window tent for the lens (next week) figure out the ridged parts on the lower part of the mask, and paint the hard parts up.

Iden't chips.
Well I saw a post over at the FPF, about a guy thinking of doing a run. (he has a site where he sells small metal props like dogtags and stuff, but I can't find the link right now.) Well, I send him an e-mail showing my support of a run, and at his request I sent him some pics. He said he may have them up for sale, in the couple of week. :) (We will see. )

Chess set.
I don't know if anyone saw, my post in the other thread, but I have an idea for this but it will be a wile before I get to anything at all with it.

There are a few other Farscape projects I have going right now, but I've taken up enough time, and space with my self-indulgence. :lol

Anyone got anything new to show? I'm still working on all my projects, and many nore, and have a long ways to go, on most of them.

Hi Jason,

New here, started with the Warehouse 13 Farnsworth prop, then went looking for a holster pattern for my (soon to arrive) pulse pistol! Thanks for a good read with lots of info! I'll tackle a few more props soon. Hopefully this thread will continue to grow.
Cheers, Jeff

Comm links what's correct, and what is not.

Here are two pics of the screen used comm they had up for auction a couple of years ago. (at least the auction said it was screen used.)

I have a few of Pilot's resin comes, and I love them, but I think they may be a little over size, and if the pic above really is of s creen used version, then the pattern in Pilot's comes are off too. (no offence.)

It looks like the screen pattern is more like a brick pattern in the pics above.

I've seen a lot of other replics (I even have a few) but most either seem off, in either size, or shape, and the screen/mesh is always off. (again, if the pics above are actually a screen used prop.)

Though I have to say, the hand made ones JackDoud has up on his site do look really good. :)

its sort of hard for me to believe thats a screen used comm, alot of things about it dont match up with shots from the show. particularly the mesh. And its asymmetrical.

I was THIS closw to getting Laraq's hero shoulder belt for $40 but missed out on it...

Yeah, there has been some great stuff on ebay lately but, I never have the money when it comes around. I really, really, wanted that replica John season 3-4 jacket that was up last month, but I just didn't have the funds. :(

I saw when that comm was up for auction years ago (I believe by the studio with COA), and I know the site that has it now. (I have pics from both.) both the site, and the auction list it as one of chiana's. I don't know if it is, or not. I did do a repica based on it. (only with the screen going more the way we are used to seeing it, and I made it more cemtrical., and made the center cut out less rounded..) And the size, and shape, look very close to other on screen ones when i was done with it. (well them. I made 5 of them, for myself, and friends. :) )

I picked up A "Speedloader 1500" today at the thrift store, for about $5. :)

So now I have one of each of these. (mine are in different colors then these, but other then that, they are the same. :) )

Super Soaker SC400:

General blaster used by Natira's security forces in the Shadow Depositry
Super Soaker XP70:

Base gun for the chronite injector that armed the bombs in the transport pod that blew up Scorpi's gammak base in the last episode of Season 1.

Speedloader 1500:

Used by Rorg in "Till the blood runs clear"

I really wasn't planning on doing Rorg's gun, but when you see the base for it just setting there on the shelf for less then $5. how can you pass it up. :)

Aw man, I've been hopeing to do the same thing for a while now. They're hard to look for directly on ebay as putting "speedloader" into the search brings up pistol accessories. I've had a 1000 for Rorf's gun sitting around for over a year now, too many projects on the to-do list. :angel

Why am I always broke when the cool stuff comes up for sale? :(

There is a guy on ebay, that has been selling his molds, over the last couple of weeks. The molds themselves aren't the best I have ever seen, as far as the stuff around the casting area goes, but the items themselves, that you could pull from them, might be quite nice.

He had a great looking set of Pulse pistol molds up last week, that would allow for either a solid resin casting, or one with a hollowed out section for electronics. There were even molds for the switch on the left side, and the cover for the electronics, Along with molds for other little odds, and ends. (like comm badges. ) I of course did not have the money to bid on it, and I only hope whoever won it, will be offering castings soon for sale soon.

The reason I'm bringing all of this up. (other then to wine, about noting getting these cool molds for myself.) Is that he now has a mold up for a Farscape Pulse rifle. Unfortunately, It's way out of my price range, and it looks like it may be a casting of a Creations Pulse rifle. (Though I'm not about ot accuse someone of being a recaster, and as some of you may know, I really don't care if it is a recasting, because I've never had a problem with recasting. I just know the rules around here, so I thought I would point it out. ) Anyways, I really, really, hope someone here, buys it, and offers cheep castings.

I would love to get a very raw pulse rifle kit, for around, or less then, $100.

Anyways, just thought I would point out the listings, if no-one has seen them, and please don't consider this as an ebay plug, but rather, a prop fan, wining about yet another prop item he may never get to own.

Ok, here's the screencaps for the various watergun based props.

If anyone can ID any parts on any of these please post them up. :cool

The Thrift store strikes again. :) Today, I found a Supersoaker XP 40, for .90$ at the same thrift store that I found the other ones, that I've picked up so far. :) (I got the flash light to do a replica of the firefly lassiter, there a few months ago as well. :) )

I though I posted these a long time ago, but I guess I didn't. Anyways. Here are a couple of screen caps from PK wars, and this guys gun kind of looks water/toy gun ish to me. Anyone have any idea, if it is made from a found gun?

It's a repaint of the Trendmaster Storm 1500 Cyclone Force 3 mod used throughout season 4:

I picked up a brand new knock-off of the Supersoaker SC 400 at Dicks Sporting Goods last weekend for $6. One of these days I'm gonna have to actually get around to makeing some of these props. :rolleyes

Hey good eye, I totally missed that. It is the same gun, with a new paint job, and maybe a piece or to changed on the back end.

I never even though of looking at "Dicks". I'll have to take a look. Is the nock off, pretty close to the real one? I have one of the real ones, but hey for $6. I wouldn't mind picking up another one or two.

I'm way, WAY, behind on all my projects. I had started a ton of farscape projects in particular last fall, and once summer came, I put them off, and now, it's been like 8 months, since I've worked on most of them. :( I have done a lot of work on my SC 400 (By the way, when you do get to work on yours, PM me, I talked to a guy that owns one of the original screen used props, and he sent me a ton of pics of it, and I have been making templates off of them, so I may be able to save you some time, and work. ;) ) I can tell you that the right off the bat, that the can is a hair spray can. He told me that, and gave me the dimensions, and after buying a lot of close ones, I finally found a perfect match, in both size, and shape. I don't know what I did with the pics of it, but it's a Tressame (or how ever you spell that, brand wit the "OO, law, law," slogan. :lol) It one of the black moose cans. (I've sanded all the logo stuff off of my can, so it will have to wait until I'm at the store next time, but I'll get you all the specifics) I emptied my can out, and then very carefully removed the top seal. I then cleaned it all out, and filled the whole darn thing with Dollar store hot clue. :lol No really. It added a very nice wait to it, and makes it much more dint resistant. (since those cans can dint so easy on with the hair moose in them, plus I didn't want to get the prop all together and have it start leaking moose.) I capped the top of the can off with some JB weld to keep the hot glue from coming out, just incase I ever had it out on a hot day. (I really don't think it would have, but better safe then sorry. right? :) ) I've cut down a threaded rod, and put it in the tube where the punp action went, to give it a little more wait, and balance. and put a little metal rod of a slightly different size, in the rear of that part, for the much the same reason. The screen in the little oval cutouts on each side of the gun, is a metal speaker screen, but I was unable to find an exact match in metal, but I did find it in black plastic, and so I'm just going to paint it. (it was on some old "e machine" computer speakers I had laying around. :)) I made a template, for the fine on top, and cut it out of aluminum. (by hand with a hack saw, and fine tuned it with a lot of sanding ,and filing, until I got it down to the shape of the template.) I've made templates for the two added barrels, and found the 3/4" copper "repair" pipe is perfect in side, shape, and thickness. (3/4" copper couplings would work too, but they have a lot of text, and dimples stamped in them, you would have to fill, so I went with the "repair" pipe. ) I still have some filing to do on those before they are ready to go, but they are at least started. And I have the rear stock, just about worked out. (the stock on the screen used hero, was all machined aluminum, but mine is going to be sheet plastic, since I couldn't find aluminum in the right thickness locally, and I got the plastic really cheep, then a hobby shop by me was going out of business.) Well that's a lot of info, but you still might want to PM me, for pics, and Templates. :)

I've started on the other water guns, and a lot of the other projects, but like I said, they have been kind of setting on the bench for a wile now. I would like to be caught up by the end of this year. (but I say that every year. :lol)

Nifty little thing I found!

So here I am searching for something totally unrelated, Star Wars jewelry, and like all those jerk ebay sellers that label their stuff with totally unrelated popular search terms, I stumbled across something distinctly not-Star Wars. It WAS, however, distinctly Farscape.

Exhibit A:

119_cap125.jpg

Exhibit B:
starwars.jpg

Nothing to do with Star Wars, I hate people like that. >.< But as you can see, aside from having a looped end instead of a ball joint, pretty much the same thing. I don't know if that's actually a tribal emblem for something else or what, but if any of you have been itching to have a PK pilot headset there's a place to start.

Just search for Star Wars under Jewelry in ebay and you should find it. :)

I ordered one of those from the UK eight years ago...and I'm still waiting for it. :lol

Actually ran across a handful of my homemade resin versions of that piece the other day, along with some of the material I used to make the center of the comm badges way back when. I really, really need to go through all these boxes I have laying around.

(edit) dug up the thread over at the FPF - PK Prowler Headset

(edited edit) - Thanks for bringing this up, RB! This is one prop I've been meaning to revisit for a long time. :D

Oh geez. >.< Hope you get it someday, haha.

The only problem with the resin ones there is that I see is it's lacking the center circle cut-out, but that's probably easily fixed with a dremel. You could probably be cast in pewter, too. :-D
