Re: Fan's Amazing Spiderman Mask Project.

Yeah, I've seen them Ty, I just don't think they're too accurate. Plus there's no garauntee that they'll fit my prints, so I'd prefer to just tackle it myself. That way I can have peace of mind in that they will be perfect! I'm sure I can handle that easily enough.
There the closest I've seen to the new lenses haha How will you do the eye part, like the see through area? Are you doing sun glasses? lol

Re: Fan's Amazing Spiderman Mask Project.

I will be doing the lenses however it would be virtually impossible to scale them accuately without a finished print to go by, so I will be making them later on. I was planning on buying a set off Joelai but lately he's dropped off the face of the Earth. I guess it's all up to me to deliver, again.

I am still around, just busy making the first run. I will be posting finished pic on Monday. Sorry for the delay, I had to have my suit sewed and making the lenses. The suit too me a lot of time to figure. Thanks to Nick Fox who helped to understand how to sew the suit. I will post the finished lenses on Monday, and when I got my costume I will post more lens options. Since I am using magnet for mine.

Re: Fan's Amazing Spiderman Mask Project.

Well, I just used my stupid brain and figured that I really don't need to wait for the prints to start the lenses at all, whoops. Since I already know the print size, all I have to do is resize and print out the lense template to get the correct size pattern to start work. I guess I'll do that over the weekend.

Re: Fan's Amazing Spiderman Mask Project.

Since it's the weekend and I'm waiting on the prints, I decided to get started on the hexagonal pattern on the lense. I'd like to thank Taylor McManus for his ingenious idea with his lenses for this method, which is what I'll be using on my lenses. Here's what I got so far:

Re: Fan's Amazing Spiderman Mask Project.

So I couldn't get the tulip paint in Australia, so I happend upon the next best thing and decided to just give it go. It's not too hard to trace the honeycomb pattern if you're very patient with it, here's my first test. I'm only showing the lowest corner because that's while I was still taking my time and the rest was mostly rushed. It works pretty well but I'll do some more experimenting before I take it to the prints.

The prints should be back in a fortnight, so stay tuned! Same Spider-time, same Spider-channel. LOLZ!

Re: Fan's Amazing Spiderman Mask Project.

Looks real good and accurate to me. I love flipping threw my Spidey channels on the RPF network lol

MOAR!

I don't know what a emmy is, but I'm going for the golden logie!

What's that, you want more, makes sense to me. I stopped by the printers to drop off some fabric for a couple of prints and managed to snap a couple of pics of the pattern, panatone colour for the print and a good pic of the screen. I'll have three of these prints sometime next week-ish and will be putting the prints up for grabs, honecomb and all, in order to fund subsequent prints and the seamstress' fees. Enjoy!

Looking good man. Hope I'll be able to snatch one of these up!

Re: Fan's Amazing Spiderman Mask Project.

Can't wait to see the progress, this might be the best Amazing Spider-Man mask ever! Shame we do not have access to the original files and screen-used suits.

Re: Fan's Amazing Spiderman Mask Project.

Awesome! can't wait to see! and an Emmy is an annoying program that makes other programs, that I watch, not have new episodes. That's my definition

Re: Fan's Amazing Spiderman Mask Project.

Awsome news! Prints are done and I'm picking them up some time tomorrow. Really interested to see how the look all painted and sewn up. Hopefully I won't be left waiting too long for Joelai's amazing lenses, as I'm really eager to see how how they'll turn out. Stay tuned for updates soon!

Re: Fan's Amazing Spiderman Mask Project.

MOAR!

Great news! It's the moment you've all been waiting for or at least that I've been eagerly awaiting. I have in my hands the first three prototype prints! I have to say suburb work all round. They look great! Now I can get stuck into tracing out the textures in puff paint, sounds tedious and boring to me. But it has to be done!

Here's a look at the finished print on the

As you can see from the picture below I believe I have faithfully recreated the very same effect as used on the screen used suit. You be the judge. (I can assure you that the print is the very same tone of grey, as I had it dupli-color-coded). Note they variation in the shadows which will recreate the forced shading effect as per

Pretty close, what do you think?

In other amazing news, Joelai ^(above) has just informed me that he's miraculously finished a pair of his incredible lenses and is set to post out next week. Hopefully they'll arrive just in time to fix on top of the first finished SupernaturalFan’s Amazing Spider-Man replica mask. Whoohooo!

Enjoy!

That's looking mighty fine! Looking forward on your progress with great interest. :eek
Just thinking out loud: what if the shading and the patterns was done on dark blue rather than black? Because it doesn't seem purely black to me on the screenused suit. Although it could just be the lighting...

Look at the first picture that was quoted by Joelai009, you'll see that on the lower right hand corner there is a colour chart. You may notice that the tones are blueish-grey and I have chosen the lowest left bar. So you're right, it is a blue-esque colour and I have taken this in much consideration. The picture appears black because of the flash, no problemo.:love:lol
