Re: Fan's Amazing Spiderman Mask Project.

"Since the testicle print" hahahahaha you said Print :lol teheheh

The eyes are awesome!!!! Now I'm really synched to do get Taylor's print when he's ready! I still am interested in your mask though too. I've noticed in some shots, the mask almost looks like a totally different material then the rest of the suit. Did you notice that Red?

Re: Fan's Amazing Spiderman Mask Project.

I understand what you're getting at but that's just an illusion. What you're really seeing is the disparity between the shading effect of the print. It appears darker because the shading is bolder than some places in the mask. Just like mine!

Just got a note from the seamstress. The mask is done! I'll pick it up on the weekend.

Re: Fan's Amazing Spiderman Mask Project.

A BIT MOAR!

Fooled you all! I ended up picking the mask up today anyway. The seamstress misunderstood my instructions and has sewn the two halves of the lines on the inside, not the outer. Facepalm! Anyway it looks pretty good none the less. I might make it a static prop in the display. Perhaps sticking out of the backpack or

Re: Fan's Amazing Spiderman Mask Project.

Any idea how to glue on the lenses?

You can do it like mine. Use pepakura file to make a headstand. and put it inside, and glue them on using super glue. Don't use hot glue, because when you are sweating, the sweat will make the hot glue come off. Can't wait to see your finished mask. Good job. Great work.:love

Re: Fan's Amazing Spiderman Mask Project.

Thanks Joelai! I guess I'll try and track down one of those cheap polystyrene forms to pin in to so I can glue them on.

Re: Fan's Amazing Spiderman Mask Project.

Can't you just do a black puff paint line across the stitching area. It looks incredible!

Re: Fan's Amazing Spiderman Mask Project.

Man, your mask turned out wonderful! Waiting for the final result, with the puff paint applied to the lines and the honeycomb and the lenses glued on!

That turned out Amazing :lol Seriously, puns aside, great job! Would you mind putting the mask on?

Re: Fan's Amazing Spiderman Mask Project.

Not at all. But you might want to buy me a drink before you ask me to "put it on"! Jokes. Yeah I'll get some pics later this morning.

EVEN

**** quality indoor self photo using the old Scarlett Johannson trick, thanks gorgeous. ;) You know I'm actually a little bit pissed with how it was sewn but as I said it's a prototype, that **** is supposed to happen. I promise that's a sewing error not a pattern fault. The next thing on the agenda is the 3D modeling. I've got a guy who's a stellar artist and he's agreed to take on the project. I'm going to be doing my own lense frames as well as I've decided there is still a bit of room for improvement. I'm in need of a bit of capital so I'll be putting up the other two prints up for grabs. 130 ea posted, that's practically less than what it cost to produce the project thus far, and perty too.

Junkyard thread will be up shortly.

Looks awesome! I take it you already glued on the lenses then. May I ask: are you using a face shell or nothing underneath? Cool work man, really looks like the movie one even without the puff paint!

No face shell under there or anything, just my fine self. I actually found some old double sided foam adhesive that I had from another project and stuck it on there semi-perminant like. Winning!

Now it's all up to the exceptionally gifted 3D designer to work his magic to create the honeycomb and lense frames! I'm really stoked that he's on board. He seemed to be really excited with working on the project too!

If I may share an observation here about the way the lenses are installed: Joelai did such a great job with his frames. They follow the shape and contour of the movie look, but those contours makes it tricky to simply glue on to the fabric. Because of the curves, the top of the frames can end up floating over the mask. This is especially noticeable if you are looking at the mask straight on.

What I've noticed from looking at "spy pics" is that they are almost indented on to the mask or face-shell rather. Like the frames actually fit into the eye sockets rather than laying on top of the shell.

See what I mean?

I recently had my face-shell replaced due to some imperfections so I decided to trim down and play with the old one I removed to see if I could achieve that indention effect.

After doing some measuring, I used my dremel to create larger "sockets" I was able to achieve the desired effect.

I think Joelai's frames look great on MCL34N's mask. Now I just have to see how I can magnetize them to work with my new shell so I can have inter-changeable eyes!

Anyways, great job all!
