SPOILERS!

Youve been warned.

Man, I hate being the guy starting a thread like this, especially when I usually just skip over the "bashing" threads on RPF, but i feel like i OWE this to you guys.

First off let me say Im a HUGE Family GUy fan. in fact, the first SW: FG Blue Harvest is what got me loving regular family guy. So these Star wars spoofs have been sort of a big deal to me.
My wife and I loved the first one and found the 2nd one to be even funnier. so you can image our excitement when I came home with a fresh stinkin copy of ITS A TRAP.

We put it in...
We are "treated" to Stewie Saying "eh... we're gonna do Jedi?"
and Peter says "lets just get this over with..."

That pretty much sums up the feeling you have thru-out the whole movie.

After that is the "crawl" where we get Seth's ranting about how the studio "made" him do this one, and they basically were half-assing it.

Thatd be a much funnier joke if it werent TRUE!

Watch, Return Of the Jedi at about 2x speed and say "****" every 5 minutes... thats basically what you get here. You could tell they were just walking through the ROTJ script and barely detouring for humor. When they did it was sorta half contrived. I think maybe 1 or 2 times in the whole thing were funny.

Pains me to write this really because Im such a fan, but the truth hurts i guess.

Well in Something something dark side he said that they were running out of jokes for making these. I have a feeling they found out once they started (and probably had a contract to do the trilogy) that it wasn't as easy as they thought it was going to be. To be honest lately american dad's been funnier than family guy. We'll be watching this one on christmas day as my dad is getting it tonight.

heck half the characters in ITS A TRAP are from American Dad or Cleveland show!
WTF?
Darth Stewie even points this out; "Oh... so we already ran out of our characters?

Yeah, I gotta agree.

I thought the whole thing about getting Chris to fight by making fun of Seth Green was funny, but probably won't be on a re-watch. Also, the head nodding was lame after they went through the line five times... then a couple minutes later they did it again!! ARGH!!

There were still some bits. The construction workers, the "regular" people getting off the Imperial Shuttle, the "No, he's right there!" thing.... otherwise it was pretty lame. I really wish they would have made more jokes like the couch gag from the first one, or even the "Don-Don" thing.

I'll never forget "Man, Hyperspace is so weird..." then the Doctor Who theme plays (from Blue Harvest).

*Sigh*

There's so much material there too. If they were running out of ideas, why call in some fans to throw out ideas. Pay 'em $50, make them sign a contract, give them lunch, and just keep grabbing ideas. I'm sure there would be people willing to do it for free just to have the "Hey! That's my joke!" thrill.

Was anyone else hoping that, when Lando called the Enterprise the Enterprise would have actually appeared?

The "Fly Casual", Planes Trains and Automobiles reference, and Power Core jokes were pretty good though...

I got the same feeling when I went to see Cinematic Titanic and they were cracking "Why can't it be over???" jokes in the first 15 minutes. It was funny back on MST3K because it was part of the sub-plot of the show. This was different. I was PAYING good money to see these guys and they complain about being there.

Same feeling with this. Then they drag it into the crawl. The crawl in the trailer was MUCH better.

so Something Something Dark Side was better? i havent seen it yet, idk whether to buy the 1st two separately or buy the family guy star wars trilogy all together...

This was the weakest of the three and comparing it to Robot Chicken Star Wars III, this was just barely watchable.

Maybe that's the whole idea of the this episode...They didn't want to do it. (It's called It's a Trap for a reason. :lol :p ;) )

if they hadn't said '****' every 15 minutes, it would have been perfect family entertainment. My daughter wanted to see the cartoon i was watching, and for the most part it was tame..

except for 'R' for gore rated skiff battle (which, to be honest, is how it should have looked in the movie)

and the fem troopers in bikini's ewok pillow fight...

...and from Han Solo telling another guy to cut off his fellow troops face and wear it....

... and the one ewok eating the other...

I donno. It was pretty dark there for a bit.

In fairness to the Seth and the boys, JEDI is a pretty weak sauce to try to spin gold from in the first place.

I'm reading this thread thinking of what I wanted to post, then get to the bottom and see that Larry already said it! LOL!

And GOOD comedy always makes fun of itself. I think I will still like this one. I "get" what they are doing there. And even reading your complaints... it sounds kinda funny.

well let me say this as a possitive

it LOOKED absolutly incredible!

i mean there were scenes that looked IDENTICAL to the actual movie in terms of their animation. good job there

I don't understand why on this one, and also 'Darkside' why there isn't an audio option in the DVD menu to select a TV broadcast sound version, AKA a 'bleep' version.

The jokes are alright, it's the f-bombs and s-bombs I could pass on.

Yea I watched this and laughed at one or two lines, the rest was just awful. I mean I know it must be difficult to keep coming up with gags but the robot chicken specials have been better by far IMO.
