Fallout Raider - Painspike Armor (WIP)

Thanks guys!

I haven't really worked on it this week at all, as I'm trying to get another costume done as well. I should hopefully have it finished up this weekend, and will probably throw it all on just to make sure it doesn't look completely awful, haha.

Awesome! Please tell me you are going to do the hair.

I'm not sure I'll be able to get my hair to stand up like that, haha. And I'm definitely not shaving it. ;) But I'll try to do something crazy with it.

Very cool! Is this the same as the sadist armor?

No, it's actually different, though they both have spiky thigh armor:

Darn, if I'd done the sadist armor, I could've had some severed hands hanging off my belt. :p

All the costume pieces are pretty much complete, so I may try to throw everything on tonight for a test run. The only piece I still need to work on is the shoulder armor. I mistook the shoulder piece in the art as a tire, so we had a little adventure of grabbing some tire tread off the side of the road. Then I realized it's the same type of armor as the other pieces, but we'd already worked on the tire some. So now I'm debating about whether I should glue spikes on the tire or not. Technically it shouldn't have them, but I'm doing a painspike raider so it seems like not having spikes on it would be silly.

Very nice work so far. I always love watching Fallout builds. I'm especially impressed with the strainer bra. Awesome to actually follow the screen image and build it that way. Do you have a picture of the back and how it is attached together?

Thanks! I don't right now, but I'll try to get some more photos of everything tonight. Hopefully actually in costume.

I'm glad someone is finally doing it! That is the most ridiculous "armor" ever. If you are worried about the stomach area maybe you could find some piece of junk to make armor out of. Realistically no one with any sense would wear that for protection. Maybe you could use something like a street sign that was bent into a curve to sit under the strainers?

That armor looks perfectly acceptable to me. :lol

I've been busy working on another costume this afternoon, and I just ate, so I don't feel like throwing on the whole raider ensemble tonight. But here's the top:

I didn't really manage to lose much weight this past month, and obviously I am not especially well-endowed up top, so I can't say that it looks very good on me. Honestly, this probably isn't the sort of thing I should be wearing until I slim down more - but I've worked my butt off on it this past month and I'm not going to be the only one without a Fallout costume this weekend. I'm thinking about wrapping athletic tape around my middle so I'm more covered up. I also have a short leather jacket I might throw on (if it's even possible with the tire strapped on).

As for the tire, I am still debating about whether or not to add spikes to it.

You look fine in the top; if you're thinking of adding a leather jacket (sounds awesome, leather jackets are very Falloutish), i think it would probably better than trying to use athletic tape. If you go that route, I would put the the tire on the outside if you can manage. Either way, definitely spikes on the tire! If you have to ask on Raider costume, you need em! :)

So, here it is with the jacket (which needs to be weathered) and the spiked tire:

Pardon my ever-so-delighted expression. I'm about ready to crash. :)

Not in love with the jacket added over it, but I think it'll work for the weekend. It still doesn't cover my abdomen, but it makes it less noticeable, and it should help keep me a bit warmer (it's supposed to be in the 40's... ugh).

And here is my weapon for the weekend, since I don't have time to actually make anything cool...

Will be adding spikes and fake blood to that as well, to make it a bit more scary. ;)

Spikey tire is good. Personally, I think the jacket is a pretty cool addition to the costume. For some reason, as soon you add a beat up leather jacket, it's instant Fallout/Mad Max. I think a baseball bat is a pretty good weapon for Raider. Definitely leave it pink. Are you going to weather the tire with the jacket, or separate?

Welp, here it is.

Just need to get dirtier, crazy up my hair, and buy more Ace bandage - ran out of it for my leg, and I may put some around my stomach to help cover that up. I think by the time Dragon*Con rolls around though, I'll be in the best shape ever and this will look MUCH better on me. ;)

I'll probably try wearing the jacket this weekend, since it's gonna be cold, but I didn't feel like taking everything off and then having to put everything back on again. I'm exhausted and it's time for a shower!

About the "get dirtier" Part.
The Dirt will look a lot more realistic if you get wet, literally. ^^
Most of the Dirt on the Characters sticks to them because they sweat.
Use a Pumpspraycan (is this the right word? o_O) with Water.
