Factory Entertainment MIB 2 Neuralyzer

Hi Everybody hopefully we can clear up any confusion and answer a few questions.

If you are concerned about a 3rd party order we would urge you to contact them, and ask them to to contact us for updates. In some cases vendors may be operating on outdated info.

Hope that helps

Thanks for the heads up! That makes things a little clearer. Still a little frustrating not to know how exact dates but there's now hope for an earlier arrival.

Comics infinity says they are checking with the supplier and should adjust the date.

So excited. I've missed my MR piece and I am looking forward to having one of my favorite props again. So excited to see all of the improvements.

I ordered directly from Factory Entertainment and received my Neuralyzer today. It's very well made with a nice heft to it. The sound and effects are nice. I was able to pick up a used metal Noisy Cricket at the SDCC last year so this is a nice complement. Very happy with it.

How bright is the flash and how loud?

Just got mine. Love it. I am super happy because the top cap unscrews so I can put a piece of gree gel inside to make it more screen accurate.

Also, it's different enough to warrant the re-do.

Yeah, MR's pieces (wisely so) were almost impossible to disassemble without destroying. Trust me, I tried.

Hello guys. I have been lurking here for a while mostlly to see the progress on shipping of the Neuralyzer. Anyways, I received mine today and I'm very happy with it, however i'm a bit worried. The 'flash' or strobe of the unit doesn't work until the 3rd time pressing the button or so. I thought maybe the packaged-in battery maybe wasn't fully charged anymore so I picked up two brand new N-cell batteries and same thing. It makes the flash sound, but the strobe effect doesn't work everytime. Anyone else having this problem, any suggestions?

My Neuralyzer was delivered today (Netherlands, Europe). Great replica, got the plate saying no 2 out of 1500.

We can answer this question... the battery that comes with the Neuralyzer is only a sample or demo battery. It should be replaced with with a domestic name brand battery for best performance as indicated in the instructions. For peak repeat performance (lots of flashes in quick succession) we recommend lithium batteries. For longevity we recommend Alkaline batteries. Its unfortunately a trade off, because as far as we are aware nobody currently produces a battery with both characteristics.

The neuralyzer replica uses the same flash set up as a camera. Not wanting to get too technical, but this has a hefty effect on the recharge rate of any battery. Basically the amount of power sent to the capacitor to charge the flash mechanism. The faster the refresh rate the more times the flash can be used in quick succession. An alkaline battery will last longer and supply power for a longer time but the refresh rate is not as good. You will need to wait longer between flashes.

For this reason several manufacturers offer special batteries designed specifically for cameras. We have found these to offer the best performance. We tried to supply the best battery we could obtain to give the best overall performance, but its not a known brand name and is only intended as a sample. All batteries are not created equal and when flashes involved!

This is not a fault, its just a limitation of the space available inside the prop and the limits of electrical engineering.

I should have figured. I've seen cameras that, depending on what type of battery you use, will not even flash. Thanks FE for the quick response and for clearing up my problem. I'll also say again that I LOVE the product and this is the Neuralyzer i've been wanting since I first saw MIB in '97 as a kid. Thanks again guys.

The whole recharge rate is interesting. I noticed that in the movie the charge sound is much faster and they can discharge much earlier. Obviously for practical reasons, you could not match that exactly. Still, one beautiful piece.

I am happy that the MR and the FE have enough that separates them that they're both great.

I am working on modifying mine to get the darker eye. I much prefer the green lens to the clear/white one. It gives the glow a more aqua color to it and the flash in the movie appears green on people's faces.

A few shots of the neuralyzer.

The sound is not overly loud but audible in a good sized room. The flash effect is nice but not very bright. It conveys the idea though.

Posted a vid here of the sound and flash effect: Men in Black Neuralyzer - YouTube

the flash on ppl's faces in the MIB movie wasn't real... it was added and did not come from the neuro prop.. Same goes for the sounds.. all fake and added after the movie was done being filmed.

Also, if you want it to be a bit more screen accurate, just cut out a thin blue filter and stick it behind the lens, that way you will get that darker effect when the neuro is off like you were after. The best part about using a filter is you can remove it anytime you want. but keep in mind, darkening the eye lens means the flash will not be as bright. i'm sure this is why a clear lens was used for us consumers.

These neuro's do everything the film used one's could not. They are better than the screen used ones in every way.
