Laura's was great but really played up the fantastical aspect. It was a makeup I could see in a Disney Halloween film. Miranda's was something that you could feel like you would see in real life if such creatures did exist. It had they incredible creepiness and realism. It would of been great if she had done something unique and weird with the teeth though. She also did really well with the pinks with using them subtly, especially when she had never really used them before.
she's used Pinks and flesh tones before ..that was just for TV ...this is her 2011 Imats entry. http://www.cinemamakeup.com/gallery/newsletters/oct2011/images/03.jpg
Dont get me wrong ..I love Miranda ..and she is finally getting to show how talented she is ..but remember that this show is edited to cater to its audience. Much more dramatic to say that she has never done this before. She's a makeup artist ..pinks and skin tones are first up on the list of color pallets ..how would you be a makeup artist and never do pinks and flesh?
I feel bad for saying this, but I did not like Frank's. The execution and paint and sculpture were immaculate, but the concept was so stupid that I lost as many brain cells as Brian Cushing will Monday night. There's imaginative, and then there's "serves no functional purpose whatsoever". I didn't like Miranda's because she added those nipples but didn't line them up with the model's natural nipples or cover the original ones up. It was very distracting. Maybe I'm just being nitpicky, but eh. Laura's was way too saturated. Some of the tans and browns should've been left out.
Not the greatest episode this week.
RJ really, really shot himself in the foot, sad to see him go.
