Face Off Season 5

Oh... Yaya is a huge hypocrite :lol
She will say another girl is being to sexual and putting her breast on display, yet Yaya herself is falling out of her costume.

Since Victoria, Scruffyrebel, is a member here... I would love to see her pop in and let us know how much editing they do to make her look bad or feed the "boyfriend made it" story line, just for the controversy aspect.

If that's the case then he's getting the short end of the stick, especially when she outright beats around the bush about the costume and her involvement in it which apparently means he had none. Like I don't know thing one about cosplay so obviously from what I gathered, everything is better when it's handmade but is it looked down on if the person has help or only if the person has no skill and everything is made for them to model?

I'm just curious as to how much in reality these cosplayers are like they are on the show. I mean the show is obviously scripted to some extent but how much of it is real. Same goes with editing. I mean is that scruffy rebel chick really that much of a bitch to her husband/in real life or is it just scripts and editing.

Either way, at this point I can't stand that Yaya girl. She's got this holier than though thing going for her and she's a hypocrit to boot.

Since the thread died with Art moving the HoC talk and the new episode airs tonight, thought I might as well add in my thoughts. I really hope that the rookies get better, if only because otherwise this season will go exactly as anyone could've predicted. I also want to point out that the first episode accidentally turned into good rookies versus evil vets and that was really hilarious to me. Still rooting for Laura and Roy, though I can't help but like Alana. Tonight's supposed to be Mother Goose nursery rhymes. Should be interesting.

The 2 guys who left this week I totally agree with.

Laura's creature was good, just not great.

I like Alanna so much more this time around.

Laura's wasn't whimsical, but neither was that pumpkin. They seem to have a hard-on for Miranda but she didn't follow the prompt at all. That pumpkin was about as opposite as whimsical as you can get. In fact, the only two that really fit the criteria were the cat and the pig. But before we go bashing Laura, what the hell was Frank doing the whole time?

The pumpkin was a little more whimsical, but yeah, wasn't all that much. I think the Cat should have won, or maybe the Eggshell girl.

Frank stood around with the heat gun on the foam... And staring off into space most of the time while doing that task. Did anyone else notice that? :lol
So I guess he made the legs out of foam? FOUR legs for a spider I might add. I am really shocked the judges didn't point that out.... It was obvious that they just wanted to cut corners and say "screw it" to making four more.

As a whimsical character, the Cat in the fiddle was the winner. For the polished finish and cool concept the Humpty Dumpty girl was incredible to me. The rest were pretty blah. The twisted man and the pumpkin woman were waaaaay too horror inspired. Maybe they should have explained the defenition of "whimsical" before turning everyone loose.

whim·si·cal
adjective
1. playfully quaint or fanciful, esp. in an appealing and amusing way.

Four legs fabricated, but the actor had two arms and two legs, hence 8 limbs.

The problem was it was a little horrific. There was NOTHING whimsy about that costume. And with the fear people have about spiders, that was a bad one to take because you're fighting that reaction to begin with on their reaction.

Something hit me last week that this show is about 45-50 minutes of drama and talking with some creative, and then the last part is showing the actual work. It's become not so much worth my time to watch anymore and just decided to stop watching entirely. I don't know... Something about the show has lost its spunk.

I liked Laura's team idea. Poorly done on their part of making a great spider / prince creature come to life. They really could have spiced it up and took the creepy effect out of it. Maybe done a crown formed into his head and some other crap.

The twisted man was creepy, but its not the easiest of the story's to do either.

I like the cat n fiddle the best. Had great movement and style with a nice cartoonish look.

I think they just missed the mark.

I didn't really like the egg either because while it was absolutely stunning, I looked at it and saw some kind of corral sea creature. It just didn't read "broken egg" to me. I dunno, this week was just kind of meh. I think Roy was very smart for immediately and vocally picking the guy who was called "too whimsical" by Glenn though.

The spider's whimsy was supposed to be that scary looking thing pleading with the rose, right?

So why weren't the foam arms folded up towards the body, and less doctor octopuc attack-mode like? :p

I have to say, the work this season is overall much better than I've seen in early episodes before, with the exception of the first episode it has mostly come down to hitting the actual specs of the challenges or you're screwed. Ink Master should take a look at that, because man, those people keep completely dodging the challenges every week and they still stay in.

Ink masters is a joke on who stays and who goes home. Josh should have went home already for that last tat. But he brings drama to the show so he won't leave for awhile. That's 2-3 people that got screwed this season. The guy who had to leave cause his chick was a total bitch and wouldn't have anything done. So they booted him instead of saying yeah, this chick just wanted her 15 mins of fame and got it. They could have gave him a pig skin to tat up instead. The 2 host that said that he should have handled like if he owned Thea shop. A real shop owner would have told her to F off the pitch and never come back, we don't need your business.

Hope face off comes back with a better episode this week.
