Face Off Season 3

Everyone seem to love his design...except Glen. He was the only one hung up on the blinking. I think Roy is the best by far. I would love to see him win.

I was shaking my head last night. I don't think I've ever seen the judges disagree with each other more than they did last night.

Really? The guy doesn't have much variety or range. Everyone else was going well outside their comfort zones to try new stuff. He wouldn't even after an unprecedented three time warning. What he does, he does well, he just can't do much else.

When I was watching the end of the show I thought, "He got screwed because the design he had to work with had a big head." And then there was a commercial for the anti-smoking "Flavor Monsters" with him in it and he made...something with a big head. :facepalm

I think Alana might be next.

I thought the same thing during that commercial. However, the look of the creature was so vastly different from his style that I was certain that he did not sculpt it, but rather just applied it.

Just a question for those in the industry...it seems that the weak points for these contestants is their design skills (except for Alana who can't paint). Is it fair to judge their talent as they are? Do the artists that work in the industry do all, from concept to application, or are they usually provided with designs that they then sculpt, fabricate, & apply?

I was wondering, because it seems to me that there aren't any real duds in this years competition, just some with designing issues like "Big-Head" syndrome.

Pretty solid episode again. Some of those Seuss characters were...frightening. I'm happy the bloated pineapple one got sent home. That was tuuuurible in the words of Charles Barkley.

I was only listening to it, but did the artists get to see what the characters in the Seuss book look like before picking them by name? I've never read that sleep book, so I don't know what the characters look like. Doesn't seem fair to not let people see what they are choosing, and that poor girl just did terrible because she got a lousy concept.

No they didn't which is why the Red head struggled so much and ended up with pooch pineapple tree chick.

I agree, that did suck. I've never read that book eigther, but the others seemed to do much better with their concepts.

Yeah, but the others had some interesting designs to the other characters from the source. The one Red got stuck with was so bland.

True, but the end result...ug. She knew it too. It's a shame she spent so much time on such a poor concept. She just was not able to recover.

I liked Alana, but she seemed to have a breakdown every week and usually needed a lot of help from the others. But I like that this season everyone seems willing to help each other.

I'm guessing unless something drastic happens Laura wins, Roy 2nd, Nicole maybe Derek 3rd

Dang I missed it. I'll have to catch up this weekend.
I heard the Dr Suess competition yielded some wild results.

Although I do feel bad that Alana had such a hard thing to work with, her meltdown over losing Rod annoyed me from the outset of this episode... which was only exacerbated for me by her freaking out so that Sarah had to talk her down. She's young, I realize, but she's also supposed to be a professional and that's not how she came off during the show, unfortunately.

I do think she'll probably be really good once she assimilates what she learned from the experience on the show, though. She's got talent, she just needs to gain in confidence so she'll actually grow into her potential.

I really liked all three of the top looks: Roy's babboon-inspired creature was super-creepy to me and Laura's was a nice contrast to the hyper-bright colors of the others though I would've liked to've seen him have a little bit of a snout, myself. I think the win was well-deserved for Nicole and I'm glad that she's fighting to show that she deserves this second chance she's gotten.

There were a lot of good ones and a few creepy ones, but Im happy with the choice they made to send home.

From the first episode she has somehow managed to get everyone else in the house to help her on all of her projects, she complains all the time, and is always getting hurt.

On another note, next weeks episode looks pretty cool.

i wouldve made the same choices as the judges this week

alltho i think lauras from last week looked like a monster from power rangers :D

Anyone ever notice how Hedrick never smiles or laughs. They will show a shot of the other judges smiling or laughing. The man's expressions never change. Makes me laugh every episode.
