Enterprise-style Home-Cinema

Hi everyone.

Some of you know me from more model related sites, i´m not that much into props as the most of you. But please take a look to another passion of mine, far away from scratching SW-kits, my Ent-theme styled home cinema. :love This styling was the reason cause i slipped a little bit in the prop world.

It´s not ready yet, but it´s on a start (it´s fully functional, just needs more deco):

Open the door .... and be captain in another world and time :) :

But some things never change - after having fun someone needs to clean the mess :$: :

and it still looks so blank ... i think i have to make much more stuff of this kind. :confused

Thanks for looking - and as with my models: Fell free to chime in and say what you honestly think. Every advice, tip, idea, and opinion is highly appreciated.

May I be the first to say "Awesome!!".

So far the execution is going in the right direction. Like you said it just needs more more.

Also to really make it come alive: lotsa blinkies! Invest in an LED company, cause I feel cases of them are in your future, padawa.... Oh wait, Number 1.

Aw, who wouldn't want something like this!!!
There have been several people deck their places out Trek stylee... Always a fun project. Many more of us have dreamed of such.

My thoughts - Stat by putting some kind of facia over the TV and sound system. You want it so just the screen is visible. Probably clip-on or hinged panels, so you can still access the stuff behind.

+1 on the myriad blinky lights and stuff.
Perhaps even have a few buttons here and there actually doing things. Like the Environmental station has controls that operate the lights and heaters/air-conditioning of the room... and The Conn, of course, controls the TV and sound system!!

There's probably a lot you could do with a bit of re-wiring and creativity.
Don't forget a communications channel to the Kitchen, so Commander Wife can hail you and let you know when dinner is ready ;)

Hi Lichtbringer,

Looking forward for more pictures.

Thanks. :)

To be honest - i thought about doing it blinkin when i startet this.

But i decided against it cause it is a cinema, it needs to be as dark as possible.

But i plan to light the monitors - as soon as i can grab the right ones with my greedy fingers. :lol

I don't even wanna know how much all this costs, the tv and electronics looks like a small fortune. I'm feeling inadequate with my tv now lol.

It´s no TV, it´s a acoustical transparent screen, with some Boston THX-speakers behind.

You only see the woofer-phalanx - no chance to hide them - they vibrate everything away. :cool So i tried to blend them in as "tech-stuff" as good as possible (but there will be panels to hide the amps).

Most of the todays hc-equipment needs way to much buttons on it´s remotes :rolleyes - but i will try to programm them into my old Pronto. Hey, Pronto´s were used at SG1 as scanners ..... they can´t be that bad. :lol

The various lights were controlled with the white remote in the middle of the conn/ops station - that should work after beeing it repainted in a grey/silver color.

Have a look at these lighted SW-looking columns (yeah, i know, as a SW-Geek i couldn´t hesitate to bring them in :$ ) :

The "fields" over the rear-speakers is lighted too, in all of them - with a red light. So, if i decide to give her a remote to control them .... she can initialize "RED ALERT" as soon as the replica..... ääääh as soon as she has dinner ready. :love But i hesitate to give her such a remote - can you imagine sitting there, flying through the universe in the middle of a nice movie ... then red alert until you did "only this" or "only that" for her that couldn´t wait? :wacko

Hi Dietrich,

i´m glad you like it - some of the used stickers are from you.
Seams i used them in a way that you are satisfied with? :)

I don't even wanna know how much all this costs, the tv and electronics looks like a small fortune. I'm feeling inadequate with my tv now lol.

Nearly all the work has been done by myself, that "helped".

And beeing no 107" TV but a 107" screen/beamer-kombination helped, too.

Great work on this. I especially like the speaker covers.

I'm going to keep an eye on this thread and maybe even steal some ideas ;)

How fully functional?

Tested up to warp 7.4 :love

Just kidding, Captain - the movie enjoying equipment is fully functional.

3 Frontspeaker and 4 Rearspeaker, 3 subwoofer and 1 "Quake" bass-shaker are online and waiting to leave the spacedock.

Blu-ray and hd-dvd standing by.

:)

Stunning!!! :eek As for the SW column panels, I think they fit in Perfectly. Can"t wait to see more.:love
