Miscellaneous Home-Brew Props Thread

Hey everyone, I made a post recently about a series of space guns I made of my own design that didn't really fit into any pre-existing threads. I feel like we all make stuff every once in a while that we think is really cool but has no real link to any pre-existing material. I hope to make this a thread where we can all share and talk about the weird stuff we make and want to share.

These are the Guns in question, I have a few more WIP pieces that ill be adding here as well in the future. Please feel free to ask questions and id be more than happy to take better photos.

Space Cowboy Rifle:
For this I used an old .50 cal black powder rifle I found in a junk bin as the base. Most of the parts are AV splitters and old capacitors, theres an old CRT coil on the barrel as well as a pneumatic piston as the barrel extension. Other misc parts are a weaver scope, hard rive bearing, auto vacuum lines, spark plug, and some weird pneumatic fittings I found at my local surplus store.

Sidearm Phaser:
Definitely not done with this one, still looking for a better scope than a copper tube, but I went for a more Star Wars look on this one with the side mounted scope like Han's DL44. The body is an old soldering gun, the barrel is an XLR thing (not really sure), and the rest are all pneumatic fittings and other junk outta my greeblie drawer. I want to add some kind of carry solution such as a holster or strap, still figuring that out as well.

Nice!! Excited to see what shows up here! I'd also oddly like to see photos of people parts bins! All the doo-dads people have collected for making this stuff.

Some recent home-brew projects from my parts bins.

Some 3d printed detail parts... but mostly a motorbike helmet and stuff tacked on. Its quite hefty! Has a lazy susan neck ring that spins and is magnetically connected to the collar. As good as 3d printing is, I still like to just make stuff up on the fly for fun. (in progress photo) Supposed to be "The Expanse" inspired .. like a cobbled together helmet from available stuff)

yeah, this kicks ass. Im not incredibly tech savvy so I always appreciate machined parts and found parts. Id, love to talk further detail eventually, this thing is really cool and I kinda wanna make my own version.

Thanks! Its ugly but I like it and closest I can get to space guy dress ups! I have a flight suit to go with it. It has a fan for air and lights and flip down sun shield and the neck ring rotates etc etc I have lots of build photos, be happy to chat about it with someone who doesnt think im nutty. lol

Thanks for the thread, I have an old stock from a black powder rifle I started working on to make it a steampunk rifle. It's got a bird feeder, a big pepper grinder and other bits. I should work on it again.

I love that small wrist device. Assume there is phone inside. Any chance for more pictures?
Thanks! Yes a spare phone. 3D printed a chassis and added a bunch of greeblies. The sleeve is from a matching flight suit to the one that it goes over and zips up underneath to make it snug with a ratchet strap from a helmet chin strap. I got a video from youtube that loops for the display. Heavily inspired (*read copied) from The Expanse as is the helmet. Dirty and cobbled together. I enjoy cobbling! (I forgot to full screen the display, it doesnt usually have the phone icons on the screen). Got my flight suit patches too! From a great movie for those playing at home :)

I love how creative you got with the materials. The Space Cowboy Rifle has such a unique, futuristic vibe, and the sidearm is coming along really nicely. I can definitely see the Star Wars influence! Looking forward to seeing how they turn out once you're done with the details.
